I made the unfortunate decision to buy the Denim and Co. TSV dress A471744, the French Terry dress that was sold on March 11. I did not like the fit and am returning the two that I bought. I wrote a review on the fit.

However, my title was, MADE IN CHINA, because it was made in China. I stated the fact that it was made in China was not a deal breaker for me, but that it was for some.

Well, well, my review has not posted after 4 days.

It was in fact, made in China, just like any other fact about the dress.

I guess QVC does not want that to be known. Was that somehow violating their review standards? Or do they just not want anyone to know ahead of time where it was made?

I submitted a very positive review about a pair of Denim & Co. pair of pants over two weeks ago. It still isn't up on the product page. So it isn't just negative reviews that don't get posted.

@Puppy Lips So it was made in China. The description indicated the dress is "Imported".

So you returned the dresses based on fit-and headlined your review with "MADE IN CHINA".

Would you still have headlined your review with the country of origin if the dresses were made in another foreign country??

I get that the "Made in China" is a stickler for some and I am not thrilled with China importing so many things.

Would you have kept the dresses if they had fit???

@Cakers3 Yes, I would have kept the dresses if they had fit. I have many Denim & Co. dresses that I like very much, some of them french terry. The two Denim & Co. skorts that I recently bought, like, and kept, were made in China. I guess my point in the headline was to make future buyers aware of where they were made. And if some people object to Made in China, then they can pass. I don't think as many people have objections to any other country making our goods. Frankly, I wish that QVC would just come out and state where they are made in the description. They use factories in many different countries, not only China. Why not be open about it?

@Puppy Lips I agree with @Cakers3. The vast majority of those who object to buying items manufactured in China see IMPORTED as a code word for China and act accordingly.

I don't know why your review hasn't been printed yet, but I do know if I were looking for a review of that dress, I'd be unlikely to read one with that title. I look for reviews that tell me details I couldn't know or guess from the info on the website.

@millieshops I did give details, but pretty much echoed what others have said that it was a poor fit, and talked about the colors. I think almost EVERYTHING they sell is imported. I have QVC clothes from Viet Nam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and other countries. I find it hard to believe that whomever writes the descriptions don't know, or can't find out, where it was made. I suppose there is the possiblity that the fabric comes from one country and it is sewn in another. I just think that QVC can and should be more transparent. I have read some comments from people who have returned items simply because they were made in China. They have every right to do so - but that is a waste of their time and money.

I think you are jumping to conclusions. I've had a few reviews that took up to two weeks to post. Four days is nothing, and it means nothing.

However, your "made in china" issue is misplaced, IMO. QVC doesn't decide where a vendor has things manufactured. Our country has trade agreements with most countries. China isn't manufacturing this and that, putting it on ships and then sending it to the U.S. without contracts and authorizations previously in place.

Certainly you must realize that if you object to everything made in China, you will have VERY little to choose from.

I wonder how many people who complain about anything "imported" take the time to contact the company who is making those items ... or would spend the bigger bucks to buy only American-made. Very few, I bet.

The whole "made in China" vs "imported" is tiresome. Reason? They get the descriptions of the items from the vendor/supplier. The IT people uploading to the website of the items do not have the item in their laps to read the tag. If the vendor/supplier has listed "imported" then that is what will be in the description. It's the same for people who call customer service demanding to know the country of origin. Seriously? Those people do not have the item in their laps to read the tag either. All they can do is like you...look at the description or google that item for another description on another web page.

The IT people are constantly uploading to the website. I know you WANT to know officially that the item came from China but in all reality the people doing the website uploading are simply uploading what they are given. I doubt your review was denied because of that no matter how hard you want to make it so. I believe the review posting is based on the person approving them for posting and when the updates to the webpage are done. If they have a whole lot of reviews for one item it may take time to get to yours.

I probably have a dozen three quarter length sleeve bateau neck Pima cotton T-shirt’s from Talbots. There are at least three different countries of origin with no real rhyme or reason. I have 2 black, both purchased the same season. One is from Vietnam, one is from Indonesia.

The fact it was made in China has nothing to do with the appearance or performance of the product and was inappropriate, reflecting your personal prejudice. I wouldn't have posted it either.

China is sometimes portrayed as inherently bad/evil and in some cases it does seem unwarranted.

I am a person who does want to know country of origin for my food and I am thankful we have regulations requiring country of origin labeling on food. Making an informed choice is imo, a good thing. But I do have some sympathy for the Q or any other company in labeling clothing on their websites as imported. Even within a given year, where an item is sourced can change due to a variety of reasons.

If a person wants to avoid imports, they would find their fashion choices severely limited. I wish more clothing was made in US. I would like to think I would pay the higher price...but just have less...I do that now for my running shoes.

I do think things labeled imported are probably from China and not labeled as that simply because yes a lot of people object to that.

I do because I don't trust their manufacturing processes. That is my predjudice. From having our dogs sick with the melamine back in the dog food (thankfully they survived!!) and lead in jewelry, toxic formula,etc. I won't buy makeup from there either.

I do agree that there are many things in our country we would not be able to have if they weren't made from there.

I don't think QVC has ever been interested in revealing where their products are made unless they are made in the US and then they state it loudly. So obviously they know that many think of that as a plus!

Their stuff from China is already overpriced so I don't think made anywhere else will be different.
