I hate spring storms. I'm not seeing some of our TX posters who might have been in the pathway of our dangerous weather conditions yesterday. Some areas were hit hard with tornadoes. Declared disaster areas. Thinking of, @MamaWick. No posts today.

Seems that the path through TX has continued to cause havoc, having traveled NE. Lots of hail and numerous tornadoes were still being reported this morning. Mississippi was getting pummeled.

I hope that some in the extensive path of these storms will check in to let everyone know they're okay.

A lot of the tornadoes were in the vicinity of the I 35 corridor. Jackboro which is west of Fort Worth had an elementary school heavily damaged with 500 students and some of their parents who were in the pick up line sheltering in the interior. Following down the interstate Round Rock north of Austin had extensive damage. The town of Elgin on the eastern side of Austin was also damaged.

I 35 is where the humidity levels increase considerably due to the terrain and the closer proximity to the Gulf of Mexico moisture. A strong line of thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes formed along that corridor and spun those tornadoes. The line moved eastward. Dallas had many reports of rotation and tornadic storms.

About two-thirds of Texas is West of I 35 and has been battling wildfires for the past two days. I am in West Texas about 5 hours from the closest tornado. We are having horrible winds. Earlier today our area had 60 mph gusts.

From her posts I have concluded MamaWick is west of Austin in the Hill Country. I have not heard of any tornadoes in that vicinity.

There were several fires in central Texas just recently. The high winds were fueling and spreading them. Then the areas got a little bit of rain and it helped but some are still smoldering last I heard. My friend's house was just 5 miles away from one of those large grass fires. One tiny town was nearly all burned down she said.

We were fortunate here, just outside the northwest part of San Antonio. Just rain, nothing severe, thank God. Some pockets in the area got fairly large hail but we were spared this time, unlike the disaster we experienced in 2016.

I'm not sure if her location was hit, but it may have been. Austin, Round Rock, and several of the smaller little towns had damage. This storm chain worked it's way across TX, except W, where we needed it for fires second to severe drought. It left TX, but was still fueled up, hitting states from SE to NE causing further damage. Powerful storm system.

@Cakers3 You're right. We've learned where to expect the storms to be fierce. This storm system did surprise some, since it just kept on full strength, from central through NE TX, then hitting neighboring states with a vengeance. I thought it would slow down some, but it just wouldn't give up. It was what they call: 'The perfect storm.'

As the videos keep coming in (even today) showing damages, across TX and beyond, it's almost unbelievable that there weren't many casualties. That's much to be grateful for, but many have a lot ahead of them to rebuild their lives. It's always so sad.
