When Am I Going to Learn???

I made a promise to myself NOT to buy anything unless free shipping is offered!!! Bought something from Wednesday's ITKWD's show and paid for shipping. It was only $3.50, but I'd rather that in my pocket than QVC's. Today there's free shipping on everything. When am I going to learn???

@coffee drinker sticking to the promises we make to ourselves is incredibly difficult. Think about the millions who make NY's resolutions and break them within a week.

Eight years ago, I walked out of a local jewelry store promising myself never to buy another piece of jewelry! I haven't been perfect, but in those years I have managed to spend less than I was once spending in an average month!!!

If my goal were to spend less on shipping, I wouldn't expect to be perfect, but I would have a spending limit when I was shopping for wants and my limit would be for the total cost of the items, not just the shipping cost. Most of the money I haven't spend on jewelry in the last 8 years wasn't saved on shipping costs!

@coffee drinker Did the price of the item go up with the free shipping?

Sometimes you need to look the gift horse in the mouth, so to speak.

@coffee drinker on Tuesday I was planning to buy a comforter and the shipping was $7.50. Thought about it but decided that I really didn't need it now. I decided to wait for free shipping.

Bought it this morning and the price was the same as it was on Tuesday minus the $7.50 s/h.

If you had bought it yesterday you could have asked the Social Team for a refund of the shipping charges.

@Cakers3 No, the price didn't go up and that surprised me. To be honest, I really didn't want to buy the item -- GP 66 cleaner -- at that time. I wanted to wait for a free shipping date. My husband thought it was a pretty good product so I caved and ordered. Oh well, it's only $3.50.

Well, you could "learn" by just not watching the shows or going on the website. Come straight to the Forums here. That would do the trick.

I found I bought too many impulse items on QVC years ago. Now, I give myself permission to buy anything that I think I absolutely cannot live without. That's the criteria I now use.

As it turns out, I can absolutely live without a lot of things.

I don't see it as learning. To me it comes down to self control. If you need help, get it. If money isn't an issue, must be another reason.
