Text Sent to Wrong Persom

Have you ever sent a text meant for someone to the wrong person in your text group?

My son had been texting me because he was entertaining out of town guests whom I knew. He was catching me up on their latest news. About an hour later I got a text, meet us at the Grove for lunch. I knew that one wasn't for me so I contacted him to let him know he sent it to the wrong person.

I would think sending a text meant for someone else could get really interesting.

I have done it a few times, and luckily it has never been anything too embarrassing. A friend was complaining about something her daughter-in-law did and sent the text to.... her daughter-in-law.

No, but I once received a text from my husband meant for his girlfriend.

We are not together anymore.

Also I receive texts from strangers apparently for whoever had this # before me. Some relative saying hope surgery went well. Sad they don't call, just a text. I tried to tell them, but every couple of months...another text.

I've never sent a text to the wrong person but, holy cow, I received one in error.

About 15 years ago I was going into work about 6:45 am and I got a text w/a pic attached. I wasn't paying attention I thought it was my then DIL sending a pic of her daughter. She had told me the night before to watch for it.

Nope, it was some dumb guy sitting in a chair, naked, with his phone pointing down if you get my drift. Said Dan the man. ?????

I haven't a clue who it was assume some idiot was drunk texting.

Indeed it could be embarrassing, both texts and emails originated and forwarded, one should be very careful.

I used to receive group texts from someone that must have been a coach telling the team to get out on the field, meet up for practices etc. I don't know if it was legitimate or what. I never answered and they finally stopped.

I've done this before more than once but never anything bad or too much info. I am more careful now. I do not put things in writing that might come back to haunt me...say it to their face is the best way I say so you can make sure it comes across the way it was intended.

I've done it several times. I have many similar names in my contact list. When in a hurry,I have selected the wrong one. Nothing embarrassing involved in these cases.

Yes! I was intending to send a text to my vet with a photo of my cat's poop - just as she had requested. I accidentally sent it to a stranger!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

I have done it a few times. Luckily nothing to cause me embarrassment. I now double check before sending out a text or responding.

I never have sent one, but I once received one!

Just in the past few weeks I read a politician and a celebrity both did this. Of course they both made the news!

Yep! Several years ago I was visiting my brother & he was dating (if that is what you want to call it) a woman who was less than ideal for him. I sent a text to my husband complaining about her, only to find out I sent it to my brother! Woops! He actually wasn't too upset. She got on his nerves, too.

I have but nothing bad.

But it sometimes is a good thing. Reminds me of that grandma who was inviting her grandson to Thanksgiving and sent it to a stranger, he accepted the invitation and has been officially invited every year. I believe now on their 7th Thanksgiving.

ALWAYS double check who you’re texting before you hit “send”……I learned the hard way. It wasn’t anything insulting, but it was very personal stuff that was meant for the person I THOUGHT I was texting. 😩😩😩

I once sent a text to girlfriend to my Doctor. I was so embarrassed for days lol. Luckily it it didn't have anything in it I wouldn't want anyone to hear...but I sure as heck didn't want him to hear what rooms cost at an upcoming Four Seasons stay, lol....he might raise rates. Lol lol

When DD got her phone evidently the person who had the number before her was a fun guy. She used to get texts for what seemd to be "orders" and also was invited over for poker parties on the regular. I texted one gal back to let her know and she was so nice and apologetic and got the word around evidently because she stopped getting the texts. I assume the reason that number became available is because he was doing a stint in county jail.

I've done it a few times. One was legal info meant for someone else and I accidentally sent it to the wrong person. I check twice now.

I have a funny one and a bad one. I was wearing some ugly shoes that I got for a volunteer job. I was wearing them and sent a pic to a friend. I somehow also sent it to the police non-emergency number.

A different one - a “friend” sent me a text meant for someone else that was gossiping about me. It wasn’t kind.
