Today finally took time to read the mail.....good news

Aware inflation & medical insurance will eat a chunk.....but we might have a few coins left over.

The increase in Social Security is eaten up by the increase in Medicare. I am so grateful that I don't depend on either of these for income or medical care....so I'm happy too.

@Mindy D East coast - - here - last week - Wed or Thursdays I recall. Holidays no mail...you'll probably get it this week when back to normal (mail).

Mine went up $79.00, thats an increase, usually it was $ 18 or 19. I worked since I was 14 years old, so feel I've earned all I can get. I don't have to depend on it, but I like to keep my savings

From the total amount at the bottom of the paper I received and what I receive now the difference is 62.00 in my favor.

My Medicare bill went up almost $100 b/c I pay for it at full price. I don't get SS or do i qualify for any SS benefits. I'm a state gov retiree and we didn't get a pay raise so the increase in Medicare is a real bummer for me.

@tobes I took the very best level of coverage offered (United Health)....so after all the deductions I gained $85 with this increase.

Way below Katchina - ....she must have a secret plan LOL

my exes SS increase was pretty much near the level of what @Kachina624 posted, AFTER deducting the medicare increase amount. my moms was more than that.

@SilleeMee I'm also a state government retiree but thankfully we always paid into both SS and the state retirement fund. I'm so glad we did.

I did pay into SS, too. But something went wrong in the gov payroll office where I worked and there was some kind of error made on my contributions which didn't appear until I retired. I was shorted credits on my SS work hours and I tried for years to have it corrected to no avail. I've even discussed my case with a lawyer and he basically told me I was in an uphill battle for the long haul. The problem is with the SSA records...numbers are missing and there'sno way to prove they ever existed to begin with.

@SilleeMee Just to confuse the issue more..........my hairdresser's husband high level job with the railroad...........they (he) has to pay into SSI plus the gov't employee plan but........can't collect on SSI. One or the other not both Apparently his job plan is the best.

Plus hairdresser has to pay in SSI.
