Purging plastic food containers

I got 4 new sets of plastic nesting containers. So I decided to clean out the Lazy Susan cabinet where I keep my Lock n Lock. So of course i found 3 round tops in perfect condition but no matching bowls. I am having the hardest time getting rid of these tops thinking I'll find the matching bowls. Does anyone else hate to toss tops or bowls when you can't find the match and always think you will find it later?

Toss them. The bowls have gone to the same place as the missing socks, so you will not need the lids!

@50Mickey I agree.

Last time I was purging my plastic food containers, it seemed that I ended up with about 5 Lock n Lock lids. Could not find the bowls to match. Did not throw out the lids but since the bowls never showed up, guess it is time to toss.

I seem to be overun with the plastic containers. I buy all the different brands and then end up using just my Pyrex Snapware.

Actually, no. I don't have a hard time at all getting rid of probably 90% of what I own.

They are plastic lids. They make more.

They are garbage now, toss them out. You've been hunting for those bowels and you haven't found them. They won't magically reappear and if they do.....so what? Don't sweat the teeny tiny stuff.

I did the same thing in Jan of last year as I sold my house and was moving---found many tops and bottoms that didn't match up--all in great shape--so I gave them to donation---lots of people go to find parts of things they need --I go onto Ebay to find lids for fave tupperware things---

I agree I am throwing some away today. I bought a new set yesterday locally.

If I don't find it in a couple of days, out it goes. I have no issues with getting rid of things ever. It's just not my nature to hold on to things that no longer serve any purpose.

If anybody has an intact seal for the large bowl HSM948, I'd love to purchase it from you. Just the regular flat one - no handle.

I (my fault) broke this seal and I'm just heartbroken over it, as these bowls are some of my favs, used for many things.

It's a large, round, bowl that originally came as a 'salad set' years ago on qvc, along with 4 (I think 4) smaller bowls.

My bowls always go with the cover on, so I never have extra lids. They stack nicely, why separate them? I don't put one inside the other, then have to look for lid.

My recommendation is to throw out all the plastic stuff and replace it with glass.

However, no one asked me for my recommendation.

I dont use anything but L&L now and I always wash the tops and bottoms together ...then put the tops back on before storing. I just don't like the other disposable brands as they don't keep anything fresh even for a short time.

I use a variety of wide-mouth glass jars. Lids are easy to keep in one place: stored in a hanging three tier basket.

Easy to see foods within each jar, etc.

Easy to clean, too. No color residue.

One of my first projects for 2022 will be replacing all my plastic food storage containers to glass.

'Funny' that, as I browse jarred food items, I always seem to reach for the wide mouth jars of various foods.

I wish that Kraft mayo would return to wide-mouth glass jars.

I had a collection (years ago), but a certain someone took them.

Oh, well. Always take the 'high road', right?

When at the grocery store, I too always choose glass jar items over plastic ones.
