Gift For School Bus Drver?

My daughter is in high school. First time riding the bus (she walked to middle school). Are gifts to the school bus driver okay at the high school level for the holidays?

Sure, if your daughter feels comfortable giving it to the bus driver.

Some gifts in the past I gave to my kids bus drivers were Prindables apples,

candy, bath and body soap and hand towels in a nice gift bag.

I'm sure it would be appreciated!

I don't think many high schoolers give bus drivers a gift. It stops after elementary school. If you want to give a gift I would suggest a gift card that could be handed over discreetly so as not to embarrass your daughter.

DD was in special ed so always took the bus. I always gave them something because we had wonderful drivers (for the most part) and I so appreciated them. Usually a gift card. One year I got home from work and there was a message from her bus driver thanking me so much because nobody ever thinks of them during the holidays.

High school students give gifts to bus drivers, and no discretion is necessary,

not one here to give out gifts all over the place, but drivers I think have a difficult job with huge responsibilities a gift is fine

I would go with coffee or good gift cards

@ScrapHappy I don't know anyone who ever turns down a tip or gift at Christmas. If the bus driver is good I would definitely give something to show I appreciate the job they do. I would give a gift card or you can never go wrong with cash.

@ScrapHappy My DH is semi-retired and started driving school bus last year. He loves it and enjoys the kids so much. He drives elementary and HS children. He gets cards and gift cards at Christmas and end of year. I think he enjoys the thank you cards as much as the gift cards. Most of the gift cards are for a modest amount ($5 or $10 at the most) to DD or one of the fast food restaurants. What touches him the most is their appreciation for keeping them safe and for braving the pandemic and cold and flu season to get them to school and back home.

I would give cash, but if not, give a gift card that hasn't strings attached; one that can be used anywhere, not just for donuts, coffee, or some other thing that may never be used.

My son is a junior. He’s a culinary student at our county career center. He baked fruit cakes this past weekend for his teacher, bus driver, and the school nurse (his knife skills needed some work) and is diligently basting them in brandy until he can wrap them up and gift them next week.

I am assuming her bus driver is a male; in that case, I would give a gift card to a fast-food restaurant, Home Depot, or a food gift. I don't think many high school kids give gifts to their bus driver, but if it is something she wants to do and doesn't feel awkward about it, I am sure he would appreciate it.

Yes, definitely give the bus driver a gift. He/she is carrying precious cargo safely to school. i have given gift cards to the local bakery/coffee shop that the bus drivers hang out at. Baked a batch of cinnamon buns and included a new coffee thermos as a gift. The drivers do appreciate it.

I know drivers of the special needs students are really the unsung heroes of the bus driver group...and moms tend to develop more of a relationship with them than the parents of other kids. So nice of you to remember them.
The elementary school teachers who teach "specials" like music, art, or library are usually forgotten during the holidays also, DD gave my grandson's teachers a small gift and gift card last Christmas and she said two of them cried; it was the very first time they had been remembered during the holidays. So many hardworking but forgotten professionals who help teach...and especially during the pandemic and all the issues that they must continue to deal with, they deserve at least a sincere thank-you note.

You can get the driver an insulated cup to keep his coffee warm. Starbucks has a good selection of cups.
