ps. I suppose I've dined in groups before where I liked some more than others...different kind of thing. And I didn't really dislike anyone there, but I suppose that would be ok; you could avoid the person you didn't like.

I was thinking more "bad date" when I first read and answered.

Yes and have because that's what you do when it's family.

As families grow and add mother and father in laws husbands, wives, kids, we may dislike someone.

I have, many times, but not for a free meal, I did it because I had to.

You don't always have a choice when it involves your job or family members.

A free meal has never enticed me to do anything. I have never been that desperate.

I don't like everyone I eat a meal with. Particuarly in a group setting.

And if someone I disliked really wanted to talk things over one on one and offered a free meal as an olive branch, I might accept. I've done things like that with people I've been upset with. People I deeply loathe, and there are very few of them, I just avoid no matter what.

The meal doesn't really matter, unless it's somewhere super super nice and difficult to get into. I might be a little more likely to compromise my positions in order to get access to a really special meal I couldn't otherwise experience. But I can't imagine that hypothetical situation is ever likely to happen.
