Seems to me that the closer Rick and Marty get to finding the treasure, the more government restrictions are imposed. Could it be that those in government in Nova Scotia are letting them finance the operation, target the right location, and then they'll swoop in and claim the gold as their own????

Funny, but I was also wondering about what comes next with interference .... and hope some government official meets with them on camera. Keeping in mind that the whole world will see what the Canadian government does with this might affect the outcome.

Anyone have any theories ... or has anyone heard what comes next? I don't know how many months ago this episode was actually filmed, so who knows what has happened since then.

I was wondering if they were doing that just for drama? In order to prolong the series. (Somebody's got to pay for all the excavation.)

But maybe the Dept. of Communities, Culture & Heritage are just buying time before anything more of value is found in order to have all the hands in the pie in place.

The island is privately owned...? But only 50% - by Oak Island Tours. Lagina brothers own 50% of that.

That leaves another 50% "ownership"...? (The other 50% was owned by deceased Dan Blankenship.)

Surely, there must be some agreement that any value would be split by 50%....?

Anyway, as I understand it, they have full access to the money pit, just not the swamp.

I gave up on it last year when I realized you could miss an episode or three and not have missed a thing.

I did put it on for a while last night and it was the same old, same old.

Core drilling, cutting open the sleeve of dirt and finding nothing or a few pieces of rotten wood.

For me it's gotten boring.

As I understand it, the Lagina brothers own the island. And, in 14 years, as long as they paid for permits, the Canadian government didn't interfere. Now that Migma artifacts have been found, along with traces of gold, the government wants a full stop on activity on most of the island. Laird did seem upset by the order. The Laginas respected the land and complied with every government demand, paying out high permit fees. And, without the Laginas, none of these artifacts would have been found.

My understanding of actual work time on the island is limited to Spring and Summer due to weather conditions.

I'm hoping that the brothers find the treasure.

Yes, it has gotten a bit ho hum, especially with all of the commercials and the repetitive comments. On a positive note, you can miss an episode or 2 and easily get up to speed.

The treasure for them and it's many millions of dollars is the show itself. It was a no brainer that finding Native American artifacts would not go well for them. It's not about the Canada's government, the Tribe made the call to preserve the site. I don't believe, I never believed they would find any treasure.

I don't watch every week because one pile of mud is the same as any pile of mud. Hubby watches. he says the show is about the hunt and the process not about what they might or might not find.

It certainly seems like the show is one big scam just to get ratings but on the other hand would that show really pay for the exorbitant prices of hiring those excavation drills and back hoes? That as well as the copper dam they had installed then removed cost big bucks. In addition to that there are a lot of people on the payroll. Hard to believe that the show is their cash cow especially since the LaGuina brothers would get most of it being the stars of the show.

They ascertain that the Templars buried priceless gold objects seems very farfeteched. Gold coins and the Holy Grail although CNN says it's in Poland.

The Arc of the Covnenat that too supposedly buried at Oak Island.

I do believe that something significant happened on the island. Too many artifacts found to negate that claim. Were the Templars involved; I wouldn't write that off. There are so many clues/symbols with Templar influence. The carvings in and around that small church in Scotland surely had Templar influence.

If allowed, I do think that the Lagina brothers and their fellowship will be able to connect the dots and reach a conclusion.

Too many maritime findings to eliminate the fact that many ships sailed to Nova Scotia. Who knows what those vessels were ladened with????

Is it my imagination or have they started using a LOT of background music? In some instances, there's music playing whenever they aren't talking!

DH has convinced himself there is no treasure and the entire show is just fake. I think there started being too much drama so he was no longer interested. Do you think there is actually a real treasure?

I think it depends on what people consider to be treasure. I'm loving the historical tidbits, the journey, and the relationships which I think are priceless.

I also think some of what was once there has already been removed.

I jut love watching them find little items .Recently I was watching a live podcast with Wolter Scott. He is a famous geologist, who had his show "Unearthed"on the Travel Channel.

I wrote that I believed that the treasure was found a long time ago. He said that I was smart. He was invited at the Oak Island show, but he doesn't agree with what they are doing.

I am Italian like the Lagina brothers, so I say to my daughter "Sempre avanti" when things aren't good.
