My uncle died in the 2nd World War; he was only 21. So many have been lost when their lives were just beginning. Sad day.

Our parish priest sent out an email today in which he thanked those members of the congregation who had proudly served in the U.S. military. He also suggested that if we know of anyone who served, we might reach out and thank them for their service.

I did. It caught some folks by surprise.

Remember my day coming home in WW11 for a week and watched as he walked up the street at the end of his furlong with his duffal bag over his shoulder going back to camp to go overseas. I was eight years old when WW11 ended and still remember the celebrations in the streets of San Francisco.

So many wars since. So many brave lives lost to keep us free.

I remember the air raids when we had to go to a shelter.

I remember my grandma not an American citizen from Italy.

She had my dad her son in the war, but because Musselini an allied wih Hitler, she could not go out before sunrise and had to be in before sunset.

What the Japinese citizens had to go through. All rights taken away. It was a terrible time.

Makes me cry when i see what all these men, boys and women fought for in all these wars, to see our world today in such a mess.
