Lights, Please!

Its that time of year when it gets darker sooner, cloudy more often, and rainy. Please use HEADLIGHTS, not necessarily running lights. Having taillights when visibility limited is important to others as well as yourself. Automatic setting us not necessarily the smartest choice. Help yourself and others with taking the time to keep all safe.

Running lights? I don't know anyone who just uses "running lights" ...... if that is even still an option on cars.

@Tinkrbl44 - Yes, "running lights" is still an option. And no lights at all is, too.

I see drivers all the time in heavy rain, fog or just darkening conditions without their car lights on. (Even though that's a traffic violation where I am.)

DH and I were out recently at near dark and I realized there was a car a short distance behind me. DH couldn't even see it - no lights at all. Just because a driver thinks s(he) can see perfectly fine, doesn't mean others can see him.

So, I agree with @Twins Mom - lights, please! There's a reason your car is equipped with them.

Great reminder @Twins Mom especially about the running lights. I'm aware because my car has the lights pull out. I pulled out half way which turned on the running lights only and didn't realize it.

Fortunately I realized it after a short distance, stopped at at light and realized my lights were not reflecting off the car I was stopped behind. Also use high beams appropriately.

I call those small headlights 'running lights' . I think they often go on automatically and there are no taillights with them. Unfortunately they can give people false sense of having lights on and they can be driving even in darkness.

We always call those lights "parking lights". And I agree with the OP that it's getting dark early: put on those headlights. One of our cars has them on as soon as you start the car.

I have to say I've never heard of "running lights". I am guessing they go on automatically?

I only know about "parking lights" where you manually turn on your lights only part way.
