The power went off Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm. Great, only of3 hours this time except we had no water. The pump was making a funny sound.

Called the guy who put it in and he said turn breaker off and he came yesterday am. to check it out. Upshot, it will be a couple days before we are fixed. What a pain.

DD is on vacation this week, some vacation. She got 12 1 gal. bottles at Dollar General plus a case of 32 16oz bottles. I takes 3 gal.of flush the toilet and put water in the bowl afterward.

We went to DS's house yesterday and showered, did a load of laundry and filled the empty gallon containers. Heated water on the stove to do dishes. Will repeat that until we get fixed.

I would make a lousy pioneer.

I have lost my well here in central NY three times in the past month. We have an automatic shut-off, to save the pump, when too much water use is an issue. We've had plenty of rain and we conserve water so I called our well guy and a plumber. After I had a total cashectomy performed on my bank account, nobody could find any leaks or cracks. However, both guys agreed that our old water softener could be the culprit. Yesterday I had a water specialist come in. She tested the water; the softener is old and not working. I decided to rent a new softener and ultraviolet cleaner and will pray that when I have five extra people for Thanksgiving, plus three dogs, the water problems will be history.

I feel your water problems! When I lived in Okinawa in late 1960s one Summer we had a severe water shortage for the entire season. The result was that they divided the island into two sectors, A and B, and the day one sector had water the other didnt. If your sector had water, you had to fill up your tub ( after you took a Navy Shower)so you could have water to flush your toilet on "off" day. The community pools were not for swimming but rather used to reserve water for fire fighters. Add to that frequent typhoons, and it was a miserable Summer. I never took water for granted ever afterwards.

I have automatically turned a faucet handle a dozen times since we Tuesday. It is irksome at the very least.t

When we lose our power everyone within view of our house has lights. I asked once why we are the only ones in the dark and was told we are on a different line.

It's so automatic to lift the toiletseat or go wash your hands. They always give advance warning and I know it's happening. But my body seems to have a life of its own and I find myself going over to the sink and trying to start the water anyway.

I would have a very hard time dealing with that for two whole days.
