Alec Baldwin Case

The Santa Fe County Sheriff conducted a news conference.... now answering questions. Said absolutely nothing, in the manner of law enforcement except "we're continuing to investigate, review and analyze". Somebody asked if Baldwin was still in the area and he said he didn't know. Still processing evidence.

Waste of time.

Yeah, they're moving slowly on this crime scene. Not surprised, since the entire movie set seemed a chaotic mess, with so many safety violations. It's going to be a puzzle to put together, since several people failed safety checks.

When you look at the work history of some of the people hired, it was amazingly substandard, for a gun slinging movie. I suspect the budget was tight.

Those at the top will likely have to face that they allowed an unsafe set. Baldwin being a producer shares responsibility, too.

The 23 year old inexperienced young gun handler will likely take the ultimate fall. She seems very foolish and immature. What were they thinking?

@BlueFinch They had a $70M budget which apparently makes this a low budget film. The young lady who was in charge of the weapons, I think her name is Hana, had done one other movie but she'd worked with her dad for years and he was a professional doing that sort of work. Somebody slipped the weapon with the live ammo into the mix. They need to find that person. Who had a motive?

An additional police report I read this morning said that crew members were target shooting at cans with live ammo in Alec's gun between filming, who's the last one who fired live ammo from it and returned it to the prop room without checking it for live rounds?

The prop room containing weapons is supposed to be monitored at all times by the weapons master (Hannah)

Ultimately is was Hannah's job/responsibility to clear all of the weapons and the industry guidelines say that live ammo is never allowed in the weapons prop room, where only blanks should be.

The police warrant said they found live rounds and blanks in the same area of the weapons room.

She was almost fired from another movie for handing a gun to an 11 year old child actress on set, without 'clearing' it first.

@KingstonsMom I wonder if she's the person who yesterday hired Gloria Allred to be her attorney? Gloria said she'll be doing an investigation and I bet she'll get to the bottom of the mystery.

Wonder if the local Sheriff checked the gun for fingerprints?

Unfortunately, the last fingerprints would be Alec's or whoever handled the gun after the shooting.

The shell casing from the fatal bullet would not have a fingerprint due to the heat of the firing process.

I believe that the Armorer and the Assistant Director should be black balled from the industry and that all " real" guns should flat out be banned from all future movie and t.v. productions.

@patbz I've wondered why they don't use phony plastic guns, indistinguishable from the real thing, and sound effects for the noise? Much less risk and hassle. No need for an armorer. Maybe the union doesn't want a position eliminated?

@Kachina624 Where did they say someone slipped a real gun with live ammo in the mix?? Is this what Hana is telling the police?? I missed this totally. Isn't it possible that she made a mistake and put the loaded real gun in with the others??

@tsavorite That's what I said. There were several guns and one had the live ammo. Somehow it was included with others. I don't think the sheriff has said what any witness has stated. Yes, it's very possible Hana made a mistake

I saw an interesting comment somewhere online this morning, made by a high school student ... this was an ACCIDENTAL shooting with "only" one person dying, and people are losing their minds over an unfortunate accident.

What about all the DELIBERATE shootings at schools, malls, etc and what do the investigations result in? Is anything being done to stop those shootings? Doesn't look like it.

I hope that all the crew that were responsible be held to account by the Police.

Even , actor Balwdwin had a resposibility to have checked the gun before firing it.

Yes, it was a movie make believe set but that does not absolve a perosn who fires a real gun from the responsibility of gun safety .

Also, without reading many of the other replies, whomever/whoever placed the real gun with the prop guns should be investigated/interviewed/etc.

But, bottom line, the person in charge of making sure that the props are indeed props, and not guns with real ammunition, in my opinion, is responsible.

Just my opinion, without fully reading all posts and without updating myself re: all of the alleged facts in the news, etc..
