BREAKING NEWS | OCTOBER 14 2021

Former President Bill Clinton has been admitted to the University of California Irvine Medical Center for a non-Covid-related infection.

From the New York Post:

Former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized in California Tuesday with a suspected blood infection.

The 42nd president was taken to University of California Irvine Medical Center for “close monitoring” and was given IV antibiotics and fluids, according to a joint statement from Dr. Alpesh Amin and Dr. Lisa Bardack.

Clinton spokesman Angel Urena specified in a separate statement that the hospital visit is not COVID-related.

By Thursday, the 75-year-old Clinton remained at the hospital and was “on the mend” and “in good spirits,” Urena said.

“After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is trending down and he is responding to antibiotics well,” Clinton’s physicians said.

“He remains at the hospital for continuous monitoring,” the statement said.

I hope he is OK as well. We were fortunate enough to see him many years ago when his daughter was a student at Stanford and he visited one of our favorite restaurants. He did seem a bit frail for his age even at that time. He was so cordial with everyone and even took pictures with the restaurant owners and staff.

Urinary tract infections are fairly common in people that age. His turned septic. My neighbor died from the same thing. He waited too long to get treatment and the sepsis killed his heart muscle.

I heard that he has a blood infection, a milder form of Sepsis. He is on IV Antibiotics and it is reported he is getting better.

He has a UTI, so I heard on a news statement. Ive had it 3 different times, and mine goes into blood poisoning. I think it's an old persons problem. Anti biotics takes care of it.

drink fluids, cranberry juice. Urinary retention from enlarged prostate or poor hygeine are common causes that I have seen in elderly men

@skatting44 @granddi I think I read for women, good hygiene, not holding urine for too long, limited tight jeans/leggings and changing clothing if they're damp/sweaty.

I have a history of urological and nephrological issues and chronic UTI"s is one of them. Also, stay as hydrated as possible.

Great question, grandi. I'm about to go to the next page to see if there are any good responses.

It does plague oldsters and often kills them. Not to mention that when infected and untreated, you can become hallucinatory (from what I've witnessed. I am on page 1 at the moment).

A semi-educated guess. Cleanliness and keep the bladder and kidneys working, IE: drink lots of fluid. Easiest way to maybe help I can think of anyways.

Will it help? Don't see how it could do any harm. Working in high heat for years and running outdoors in hot and humid weather, I have always drank a lot of H2o. Never had this urinary issue and 7 years his senior.

Sounds like he is doing much better today.

I swear by D Mannose as well. If I feel a little more ahem urgent than usual, I get out the D Mannose and take it for a few days and it clears right up.

(Of course, if I didn't catch it right away or it didn't go away I would go get an antibiotic prescription at the doc.) Waiting is a bad idea.
