Did anyone here receive an extra (separate) amount in their bank account from the SSA? My sister just called me to see if I had received anything more, but I haven't received my monthly amount yet. She got an extra $90.00 separate from her usual payment

@catter70 I did not -- can't remember ever getting a separate check since the first year I claimed SS. That check was because there had been a miscalculation and it made up for the months I had been underpaid.

Why don't you log into your SS acct .It will tell you why you got the extra money.

That happened to my friend several months ago, she got a letter explaining they were making up for a miscalculation in her benefits.

@NicksmomESQ It was the OP's sister who got the extra money in her SS deposit. They don't even send checks anymore, do they?

Most likely they are making up for a mis calcuation. This has happened to my husband several times, but he has always gotten a letter in advance of payment.

my ex has an amount pending in his checking account today, but i cannot see what it is for? the amount is $161.50.

@Love my grandkids Actually they do upon request. Either way the person should check their online SS account.If they don't have one set up they could always call.

My husband once got extra money. Weeks later, he got a letter.

the SS office recalculated his account. He was still working and paying into SS....they readadjust payments if they notice, and you get a check or deposit for what they owe you back dates. It is also possible that your next SS check will be higher.

Your sister should be getting a letter soon with an explaination.
