I’m cleaning up my kitchen tonight and the tv is turned on to Food Network.

Okay so the commercial about “pooping women” comes on and then…

a new commercial I’ve never seen: Welcome to my v+g+N+.

Look, I’m an old woman, but what? Just when I’m tryin’ to get used to the pooping thing, we have to welcome the other thing.

@Malcontent I agree, there are some things that don't need advertisement. How about a little old fashioned discretion? It's all too much. I send emails to obnoxious advertisers and avoid their products.

For some reason, these things don't bother me. I like 'truth' in advertising. So talking openly and in basic language about this kind of stuff is not offensive to me.

What I can't stand are all the prescription medication commercials. Most never tell you what the medication is for. And it's not like we can just go out and buy it, it needs to be prescribed. Are millions of us seeing those commercials and running to the doctor and asking to be put on them? Those are the ones that bug me.

what about that commercial with the older man just getting a hearing aid and now he is able to pick up what his daughter is trying to tell her boyfriend, but, her parents are in the room, so, she is trying to be discreet and whisper to the boyfriend did he make a run to the pharmacy.

Dad hollers "she wants to know if you picked up the con***s"

Kind of funny, but, is nothing sacred ?

Or, the first few seconds is how great the product is and the next few minutes is how the product will probably kill you.

Keeping reality hush, hush is ridiculous!! They need to be public. We all poop and pass gas, etc. Men and women do not know things about even their own bodies let alone the other sexes! It's surprising how many women do not know much about their female body parts and men often do not have a clue - even ones married for years and years!! Why such secrecy?

I remember back in the 1980s Tampax started advertising on the radio.

I saw a guy headed down a logging road in his Jeep, 4 wheeling it, blasting some tunes, and this came on. A little cringe-worthy but plenty funny (to me).

The one that’s actually infuriated me lately is the one that depicts parents threatening the children with punishment for not eating their vegetables, then loading up the vegetables with grated cheese so that the kids will eat them ALL the elements of good parenting- threats, bribery, using eating or not eating as a weapon……

I have not seen this one yet but I have seen the pooping commercial. I must admit it kind of shocked me. Not so much the subject but being able to tell some (or at least one) is sitting on a toilet. Cannot believe I am saying this but after viewing that commercial I do not think Viagra ect... for men is quite so bad. At least those are just kind of running around in a park and being free with the wind blowing in the older couple's hair.

Oh no I have not seen that. It does not sound like the FDS product I grew up watching advertised in the '70's. My Mom caught me once in the early days of my using deodorant and I was using her FDS instead of my own product. I thought the FDS was so pretty. She had to explain to me it was more than a "deodorant" and was not intended to be sprayed under someone's arm. I think I was about 11 at the time.

Agree perhaps the companies do it for "shock value" so people will remember their ad...BUT it does have the opposite effect because some people HATE the commercials so much they avoid the brand like the plague!!!

They can look anything and everything up on the internet in the privacy of their own home!

It's a matter of privacy and proper etiquette. If you wouldn't choose to introduce it as a topic of conversation at a social gathering, then having it broadcast into your home uninvited is unacceptable.
