ANY MAIL DELIVERY PROBLEMS BY YOU?

I live in Southern California. The mail delivery here has been spotty at best.This has been going on for a few years, but in the last few months has certainly gotten worse.Days of no deliveries and then pieces of mail that do not belong to us.Mail left on stoop instead of putting it in the door mail slot.

Is anyone else in the country also having similar problems, or are we the "Lucky" ones? Lots of answers to the problem, but they don't make much sense i.e. the virus.The problem started way before that. Would like to know the real truth, instead of guesses.

I'm getting mail everyday. Only problem so far is package delays.

Your mail carrier is responsible for getting mail to the right residents. My current carrier did that for a few months when he started the job. It's also your mail carrier's responsibility to put your mail in your box.

I would report this person to the local postmaster When you call, ask if you have a regular carrier or are part timers or temporary workers delivering your mail. The latter might explain some of the issues you are seeing.

If you have a full-time carrier, get this person's name. You might need it if things are not corrected.

If the local postmaster doesn't do anything about it, call USPS headquarters to report this person.

Get your neighbors to call, as well, if you can. What you describe is unacceptable in any state.

We have great mail service even though our PO is understaffed, sadly that situation may get worse soon. I appreciate their hard work...they delivered lots of needed packages to my door making my life easier, I'm grateful for tbat.

Problems all the time here in my small part of central Pa. Pretty much weekly I get someones else's mail. Also, have trouble getting my magazines. I have 2 that are a week over due now. Been going on for several years. Doesn't help to call the PO because they either don't answer the phone at all or they answer and hang up.

East coast here, and yes, sometimes we fail to receive mail we are expecting. I would say it's the exception, however.

I would say, overall our service is pretty good, and our postman is reliable and also very nice. Always a wave and a smile! He goes out of his way to bring packages to the door.

I live in Florida and mostly all the mail I get is ads so not really sure about that. Packages, however, are taking a long time. Last thing I got from QVC took two weeks after it was sent. I have ordered stuff from Amazon that used to take a couple of days is now taking 10 days or more. I ordered from Ulta and got in less than a week which was a surprise. Even Walmart is taking a while. Now when I order I try not to think about it for a week and then I start tracking it.

There is a house 1 street over that has the same house number. We would sometimes get each other's mail. I worked with the post office so our records are flagged and it hasn't happened in over a year now. The only problem we have with it now is the occasional fedex mistake.

Yes, we haven't gotten any first class mail since Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday we didn't get anything at all.

Friday and Saturday, even though it was addressed to us, it was junk. One day it was an offer from HIghlights magazine, the other it was for Verizon Fios.

Service at the post office for our zip code has been spotty for several years. We know we should receive mail everyday because we get junk mail all the time. However, it's not unusual for us to miss a day each week. A new neighbor on our local Next Door wrote a post that our Postmaster told him to come up to the post office daily to ensure he received his mail in a timely manner. The reason was they didn't have the staff to keep up with demand due to carrier transfers. Sometimes we'll get a slip in our mail to go to the "parcel locker" outside the post office to pick up a package that they didn't want to leave on our doorstep. This sounds laudable, except for the fact that they leave more valuable packages on the steps all the time.

We've also had a problem with thieves raiding the blue mailboxes in public locations at night to steal, alter and negotiate checks, money orders, etc. One of my friend's bankers told her to avoid using a very convenient mailbox in a nearby shopping center, as theft at that box was so bad that the Postal Inspectors were investigating it. Nowadays, DH takes any paper mail to the drive through mailbox at the post office early in the day so we know it will be collected before they close for the day. I reported the theft of our personal property tax check last Fall to the Postal Inspection Service and have never heard back from them. Apparently, investigating the theft of a check and altering it to change the payee and double the value isn't a high priority.

I don't get mail everyday. In fact, we average mail delivery 4 times a week. It's near impossible to get mail on Monday. This has been like this since this early summer. UPS still is pretty good. They never seem to mess up. FedEx is the same, meaning they still on occasion, will mix up your packages or deliver to the wrong address. QVC shipping is horrible with almost all my requests status as advanced order. Though I don't know the difference between this and wait list. I just hope I don't get any winter clothes finally delivered in the middle of next summer.

@Eileen in Virginia Several years ago, the post office put out the idea of staggering mail delivery. Mail delivery 3 days a week, for example for even number zip codes and 3 days a week for the other. Obviously the public didn't like that, But since we only get mail delivery 4 days a week, I wonder if the went ahead and did this anyway.

@Flatbush- I'm in So. Cal as well and our mail delivery has been slipshod for a few years now. Sometimes mail is delivered after 8pm.

I believe the problem lies with the current Postmaster General.

These poor letter carriers, having to drive what looks like a souped-up golf cart with an opposite steering wheel.

Many rural routes around here have turned into major arteries and the postal people risk life and limb daily!

Yes, you could say that about many professions, but I give much credit to my local PO.

Except for the fact that mail delivery really slowed down with the new head honcho I don't have any problems. My mail is delivered everyday except Sunday. I make sure I walk across street to collect my mail everyday. I do not have a locking mail box and I (so far) have had no problems with theft. I have lived in this house for 30 years and I have only had three different mail men.

PS: I live in the Seattle area.

I'm in WV, and am not experiencing any mail delivery issues.

The few issues we've ever experienced are due to a new person on this route. Our regular delivery person has always gone the extra mile to bring packages to the door, etc.

I will say that we are no longer getting other people's mail ....so thats a BIG IMPROVEMENT!

The bad news is Informed Delivery shows that a package is arriving or has arrived, but it doesnt actually show up until a day or days later......Or a front door delivery is requested but they still cram it into the small community mailbox and crush the package...🙄

I wish they wouldn't deliver mail on Saturdays. it's enough trouble to get it the other 5 days. We have very efficient service, I can't complain about that, but there are always problems to solve and things to resolve for my mom.

I dread the mail every day.

I think they are all doing the best they can. I salute them for that, and try to be patient when things don't happen as fast as I'd like.
