As Fall is arriving in some parts of the country, what are your Fall months? When does winter take its grip?

The Earth has reached a position where the sunlight angle has changed. I think plants and wildlife respond as much to that as to the temperature. Here in New Mexico's mountains, Fall is in the air. September and October are decidedly Fall months. November is a toss up. The ski area tries to open Thanksgiving weekend. Many years ago we would have very cold weather in late November and Winter snows began. In more recent times, November has been milder and more Fall-like. Winter has held off until December.

I think that Sept. and Oct. are our fall months. It can get pretty cool in Nov. and we are guaranteed snow in Dec. Fall it by far our shortest season.

Here in Colorado our fall season is very short lived. I can tell it has already started with sun casting long shadows on my lawn and the sound of the leaves in the trees is sounding a bit different with them rustling rather than being more quite in the wind. Usually by the end of October there will be snowfall, not much but it comes around Halloween, it seems, every year.

The state of Texas is definitely dry and hot into September. It's definitely NOT a train wreck by any means. But I'm sure a lot of us could name several other states that are train wrecks but this is not the place to make comments like that.

I live in Atlanta. Here, I consider true fall to be November.

Can you see the changes in light and a lowering of humidity before then? Sure. But in terms of leaves changing, it's usually early November.

True winter for us usually starts in January. Though I remember a 17 degree Christmas Day here one year and plenty of 70 degree Christmas days.

Winter can take all the time it needs to get here, in my opinion. The longer it takes to get here, the faster it's gone.

I'm in North Central Ohio so all I can say is, it depends. Our weather can change on a dime. We have had downright hot days in October and we've had 40's on Halloween. We've had snow flurries in October, sometimes November. A couple of years ago, I was outside washing my car the day after Thanksgiving because it was so warm and other years we've gotten significant snow on Thanksgiving.

The second weekend of October is always our last camping trip for the year and there have been years where we froze and last year we were in shorts and t-shirts.

Definitely central and southern Ohio have better Fall weather than we have.
