Favorite dolls

When you were a child, did you have a favorite doll or dolls?

What was the first one you remember having?

Do you still have any of your dolls?

My favorites were my Ginny dolls, Tiny Tears and Toni dolls.

I still have my Ginny dolls and their clothes and furniture and my Toni dolls.

I've collected more of the Ginny and Toni dolls as an adult.

The first dolls I remember were my Bonnie Braids and Little LuLu dolls that were Christmas gifts when I was three years old.

The one whose string you pulled and she talked. Another whose hair you pulled and it grew. Barbie and Ken dolls galore. Loved dressing them.

Tiny Tears, Betsy Wetsy, Thumbelina, Chatty Cathy, and Midge.

My very first doll was from my uncle; a little rubber baby doll about 8" long with a single stripe of red hair on her head, wearing a white and red polka dotted jumpsuit. I still have this doll and my Midge doll.

@AuntG Did you have Chrissy or Velvet? Those were the dolls that my daughters had with the hair that grew. Barbies came out when I was 12, but my daughters had them. I made lots of Barbie

clothes for them.

I had a great many dolls of all kinds, but Barbie was my favorite. The clothes were beautiful then !

Barbie, I would sit for hours and dress her up. I had a littel tray that had drinks on it. I love barbie clothes.

I recall having one doll that I actually liked. I believe her name was 'Tressy', and she had hair that you could pull up out of her head, and I think there were magic markers to "dye" her hair different colors.

She also had miniature lipsticks to do her lips and miniature eye liners/shadows to do her eyes. May have had some fingernail coloring things as well. So long ago.....

She was about the same size as a Barbie and had an outfit. This was probably mid-60's.

Other than her I've never liked any other dolls and find them kinda creepy now. I think my Tressy doll went kaput when her hair fell out and I ran out of makeup for her.

Betsy Wetsy, Chatty Cathy and Barbie. I had a lot of other dolls, but these were my favorites.❤️

My favorite doll was Sparkle Plenty ( ****** Tracey character, her body was stuffed rubber and almost none now survive). Other favorites were Ginny and Toni bride doll.

@rms1954 Your doll is very cute. Google Little Miss NoName. That is the doll that my daughter would scare her younger brother with. He was afraid of it. She just had a sad face.

@patbz My Bonnie Braids baby doll was also a ****Tracy character. She had two little blond braids sticking out of the top

of her head and two little baby teeth. She came with a tiny toothbrush and a small tube of Ipana toothpaste. That was 1950.

I always wanted a bride doll and I got a nun doll instead. I think that my parents were trying to tell me something.LOL

Betsy McCall . The one in the pic is circa 1956 .

Those American Girl Barbie's in the striped swimsuit with the bendable knees around 1964 sure were fun to play with.

@skatting44 That was the Betsy McCall doll that I had with the same coat and dress. The outfit included a little black beret.

I loved the Betsy McCall paper dolls that came in the McCall's

magazine. Betsy was one of the last dolls that I got. A couple of years later, I was no longer playing with dolls.

My absolute favorite was my Toni doll. I still have my Toni doll but her head has fallen off.

My second favorite was a toddler-sized walking/talking doll.

[My mother saved her favorite doll and wanted me to have it when she passed. So, I have "Phyllis," who came with a small high chair. I do not remember the names of my two favorite dolls, for some reason, but I remember Phyllis's name. I think the reason is that I was struck by how odd a name choice I thought it was coming my mother. In addition, I heard my mother's doll's name as an adult and not as a child.]

A baby doll I got for Christmas when I was about 5 she is in my china cabinet. Many great memories playing with her. She's 54
I loved playing with Barbie, Ken, & skipper, loved the mustang car and a Travel trailer set to take them everywhere.
Also played with paper dolls
