Have you heard about "the Rave Horse" from the Olympics? I hadn't but just googled it.

I promise, if you want to smile (maybe even chuckle), check out this equestrian event with surprising party music. The horse and the equestrian are brilliant.

Just watched and I loved it, know and loved the songs. I was watching dressage this weekend and thought it was so boring. I even said to someone "...it's snooty horse dancing...", but loved this.

I suppose Olympic equestrians took their partners to Japan by air. Horses don't mind flying? Or are they sedated for the duration?

I like watching the equestrian events. Beats beach volleyball, which seems to be on endlessly, IMO!!

I had to look up "crip walking" to understand the joke, and then I pulled up the video with Snoop and Kevin Hart.

@Sooner Your mentioning the Lipizzaners reminded me that I saw them several years ago. I grew up hearing about them and their rescue during WWII. We had front row seats and really got to see them up close and personal. We took our 8 year old grandson since we thought that would be a lifetime event for him. We (my husband and I) were enthralled but our grandson wasn't. All he talked about was the amount of horse poop and the smell (we were right there). Of course scoopers ran out immediately and cleaned constantly but not soon enough for him. He also had to be "dragged" out of the restroom because he was impressed with the automatic faucets and hand dryers. Seeing the "airs above the ground" is amazing. We also live abut 15 minutes from the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) and get to see the "fancy" horses as much as possible. Thanks for posting about the Rave Horse @golding76 . I never tire of watching those wonderful moves.

@Sooner ... the Lipizzahers have a training facility not far from where i live. we used to go watch the 'dress rehearsals' that they opened to the public a few days before they would hit the road for the show season. we really enjoyed it ... but then covid and illness hit, and the original owner died and one of her daughters took over. not sure if they are even up and running since the virus, i thought that they would be unable to go on tour anyway... Once i am able to be up and about again i plan on looking them up.

I just love horses! And dressage horses are so incredibly skilled. Here's another Olympic dressage performance set to I Got A Feeling, from 2012. Amazing. When they do that extended trot my heart always races along with them.

@traveler Thank you for that. They do a lot to make the horses comfortable for the journey but it must still be very strange and unnatural for them.

I couldn't read the link because it required me to disable my ad blocker. I was able to find another one by using my search engine though. I was wondering about that today when I was watching the Individual Jumping Qualificications. One of the horses balked and ended up jumping up on it's hind legs several times before the rider nodded to the judges and rode off the course. The commentator said something about that being a trick the horse had been taught and not by the rider.

@fancy pantsy Have you seen videos of Western Reining Horses or Cutting Horses? I would think riding a cutting horse would be challenging!

As a silly footnote: David Yurman (yes the jewelry) and Lyle Lovett are both into reining horses and someone told a friend of mine one day that at some horse show in Oklahoma City Lyle was giving David a lesson. Who would have thought?

I think reining and cutting horses are so amazing. I had the opportunity to ride a real cutting horse (like really did ranch work out west) in some lessons a couple of years ago. Now I was just taking regular riding lessons (western tack). That horse was so amazing and sensitive that he would react if I even looked in a direction. I looked down while we were trotting over rails on the ground and he hit a rail with his hoof. My instructor immediately said "that's what happens when you look down, keep your eyes focused where you are going." Sometimes the horse would just stop and ****** his ears back at me because I confused him sooo much. I can't even imagine how it feels to do real cutting maneuvers. Really made me aware how skilled these riders and horses are. Serious money is required to compete in reining and cutting and it has become popular beyond the "western" folks.
