To the above poster, wish I could be like you and just have those commercials make me "uncomfortable ". It would save me a lot of torment. I can't watch them.

Anyone else besides me bothered by these lengthy ads with pictures of sad pitiful animals? I have to change the station for a few minutes. I can's stand looking at those sad animals.

Yes! And I am a cat person but found myself really upset over Daniel, the gas chamber dog.

Miracle Dog Rings In New Year At Rose Parade

Airdate: 01/02/2014

Daniel, the 20-pound Beagle who escaped a gas chamber got his own float in the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Two years ago, the pup was sentenced to death after no one adopted him at a shelter in Alabama.

Animal rights activists shot video of a stainless steel kill box, like the one Daniel was put in, along with 17 other dogs. Carbon Monoxide gas is pumped into the container. It was a certain death sentence, but somehow, Daniel survived.

Debbie Rappuhn, who rescues dogs, was at the shelter when it happened and snapped photos of Daniel after he came out of the kill box wagging his tail.

She told INSIDE EDITION, “It is a miracle. That is all I can say. There's just no way to explain how one dog can come out alive from that.”

Daniel has been adopted by Joe and Geralynn Dwyer, of Nutley, New Jersey.

Joe said, “He is a miracle. He had a purpose and he is meant to be.”

But, the Beagle's lucky life didn't end there. Daniel was the star of a Rose Parade float that celebrates dog rescues.

On New Year's Day, he was riding on his doggie float, sharing the spotlight with other rescue dogs. It was a moment in the sun for a dog that somehow defied the odds.

The shelter where Daniel was initially ordered to be put down no longer uses a gas chamber, but, the practice is still legal in 31 states nationwide. An estimated three-to-four million dogs are put down each year due to overcrowding at shelters.

Until this changes, I will not donate to HSUS or ASPCA. 'Nuff said.

Oh those commercials are just so pitiful, they really tug at your heartstrings. A friend just shared something on Facebook the other day about a German Shepherd pup that was abandoned. She had gotten an awful, awful case of mange. She had a few wisps of hair along her spinal column, but the rest of her was bare and her skin was in horrible condition. She was scared and hungry. Someone rescued her and got her taken care of. In just a short time her hair filled back in and the video that was posted showed her happy and playing with another dog in a foster home's backyard. She's up for adoption now, someplace in California. There are a lot of good hearts out there, but so many people who are downright MEAN. I don't know why they have to treat pets in such inhumane ways!

I can't watch them, I'd be haunted until I'd lose my mind. Just seeing the first shot before I can change the channel makes me sick. We couldn't even take movies has a kid where the mother animal was always dead. I can't watch any animal movies to this day and I resent them dragging this into our home when you can this enough of this in real life. I can't imagine how these commercials will haunt children that see them. I think animal abusers should be killed personally.

Tonight I was eating diner when it came on and it made me sick. I know these commercials are impactful, and probably help to get people to donate, but I wish they would find another way to get the message across. I mean really, how many people do they really reach if we need to change the channel when the commercial comes on?

Many states in the south still use them and my heart breaks - personally, I say stick the idiots who passed gas chambers being legal....stick them in the chamber and see how they like it.
