CarShield - Thoughts?

I keep seeing commercials for CarShield, the extended warranty for vehicles.

I am just curious if anybody has/had it, thoughts both +/-.

Worth it, or no?

@Anonymous032819 We do not have it but check out the reviews in Consumer Reports. We looked but didn't buy.

From what I understand there are different plans and the year/make of your car can determine what is covered and by how much.

You need the Diamond Plan for the bigger ticket repairs, such as engine repairs.

Carchex actually has better reviews.

Put money away in an emergency fund rather than spend it on any extended warranty.

I checked it out and it doesn't cover the things most likely to cost a lot to fix unless you pay an arm and a leg. Not for me.

Exactly! And be sure to keep up with routine maintenance of your car to prevent major issues.

I had it for a short time when my tech told me that I would need an expensive repair within the year. Another $$$ repair came up and CS did not cover it. How convenient (for them).

Waste of money and a rip-off. BTW, it has now been 2 years and I have not needed that pricey repair, thank goodness.

@Anonymous032819 when a multi millionaire like Ice Tea says he uses it ....it must be good😄.

We know he is doing the commercial for free and that he the needs the help paying his car repairs on his $100,000 garage full of cars LOL!

My trusted mechanic says they will not do work for anyone with Carshield because they often do not get paid or if they do it takes too long and there are so many and, if or buts in fine print used to deny payment!!! Put the amount it costs aside for car repairs and you will be better off! You could pay for years and never have anything covered!!

It just seems the proverbial "too good to be true." We have purchased and benefitted from new car warranties over the years, but not this way.

For the last few months we get 3-4 calls a day selling car warranties. I don't answer phone any more. People must be falling for this or they would stop the robo calls.

@Anonymous032819, if you check out the fine print in the commercial, you'll notice that they cannot be sold in California. I believe you live here?
