Voltaren Gel Question

I have a lot of arthritis in my back, neck and knees. My knee has been hurting for a couple of days, and I just now used Voltaren gel on it. I haven't used this for many years. I remember it worked fairly well but wasn't convenient to reapply four times a day.

I was hoping it would help me tonight so I could sleep. The package says it doesn't work immediately and can take up to seven days. For those who have used it, how long does it usually take before it brings relief?

I have taken Aleve twice today and also Tylenol.

@Kachina624 I know you use this. I was hoping you could give your input.

Just remember Voltaren is an external NSAID, so you must be careful about what you take orally if you are applying this externally!

I can't answer your question on this product but if you are out and about

I would give Australian Dream Arthritis Pain Relief a try.

I have used the regular pain relief cream and it's a miracle cream.

Relieves pain within minutes. Non greasy. Works great.

I was working out a lot and my joints were hurting so bad, this cream took care of all the pain and made me feel so much better.

Please be careful with Aleve. Take it with food. It can really cause stomach problems if taken without food.

I have found that it works right away.

@NickNack I use it on an "as needed" basis and not every day. I didn't know it was supposed to have a cumulative effect. I use it on my knee or back and in 20 minutes or so, I'm able to move more freely. I use it 2-3 times a week. It's not super-duper great but so far, it's the most effective topical pain killer I've found.

I've discussed the NSAID effect with my doctor because I'm supposed to lay off the NSAIDs. She didn't feel the Voltaren would have any effect on my kidneys, which are the issue. She's the one who suggested I use it. I've had to give up oral NSAIDs. I get prescription Voltaren from her. It's not any stronger but is cheaper with my insurance.

I´ve had 2 Cervical Spine Fusions. Every now and then I will have pain. A friend of mine makes CBD products. I asked him to make a liquid roll on for me and he did. All I have to do is rub the spot that hurts and it helps. Last week my Dr told me my neck has a lot of arthristis and I´ve used it and it works.

At first I was very skeptical about using it, but not anymore. It works for me.

@Sage04 I have a small bottle of CBD that I've never used because I don't know what to do with it. The directions are so tiny I can't read them. It's in a dropper bottle. I'm gong to try dropping some on my knee which hurts, rub it in and see if it helps. Here I go.....

@Kachina624 try it and I do hope it works for you. Mine smells terrific and I love it. I feel so special that he made this just for me. He also makes the cream but I prefer the roll on.

@Sage04 I used about 3 drops rubbed it in. It did seem to help. Doesn't hurt at all now. It is peppermint flavored. Wonder if it's to be taken internally?

2 weeks ago today I used a generic for Voles. I woke up Saturday morning with blisters all over the hand I used to apply it to my knees. The second side effect listed was blisters.

Some can be taken orally. I have RA, did not notice any releif,

but didn’t take but once. Check label for oral use.

I only use it once or twice a week.....

After reading the instructions that came with it......I got too nervous using it often....

Thank you @Kachina624 You're supposed to drop the CBD oil on your tongue. I tried it for back pain, and it didn't help me at all. I imagine some brands are more effective than others.

The Voltaren helped me tremendously last night. I posted right after I used it, and in about an hour I could feel it getting better. I'm so glad I decided to use it.

My doctor prescribed it years ago when it was prescription only. I remember at the time I was taking a prescription NSAID, too, and she said it would be fine to use them together for the reason you stated.

I'm struggling with arthritis in my foot. I use Aspercreme or BioFreeze which help. Sometimes I put on the Aspercreme patch. Aspercreme is lidocaine. When those products stop helping, I'll try Voltaren. Advil works well, but my rheumatologist said Tylenol is a better choice "if it works."

I'm glad to read all the input here about this. It's good to share experiences.
