Earthquake in California

I've experienced many earthquakes but this one was the weirdest. It started very slowly I thought why am I feeling dizzy, but then I saw everything rolling.
5.9 near Nevada/ California border, 4.8 in Stockton and many more small ones, from what I'm hearing all of Northern California felt it 😳

I am near Folsom California and I felt it. Kind of a sideways dizzy feeling. I have lived in California for many years and have felt several others. Hope it's not the precursor of The Big One.

That's what I thought since there was so many today and it's been a long time since we've had a BIG one. I've heard we're overdue.

5.9 is a large quake, but not everybody in Northern California felt it.

I, who lives close to the Oregon border didn't feel it.

I hope that there wasn't any damage to property.

I really felt this one, I had no doubt there had been an earthquake (let alone seven of them).

ETA: It's up to 10 now.

I just saw that you live in Northern CA, but close to Oregon border - are you off of I-5 or more on the Coast? My younger brother lives in Shasta Lake?

Back in 2017 I came out to visit at Thanksgiving time and we drove up I-5 into Oregon up near Crater Lake; then over to Grants Pass and over to the Coast; back into CA; down to Eureka then took 299 back to Redding, CA.

I live in the Bay Area just across from San Francisco and I didn't feel it but know people in SF who did.

I just looked it up, as the time wasn't mentioned and I wanted to see when it happened. Looks like around an hour ago in Eastern Central CA, so it was a bit far south from me and I didn't feel it.

Hope everybody in the areas is ok. 5.9 can be kind of rough if you are near the center.

I remember when we were going through hundreds of earthquakes a day and, while most of them were pretty small, they were centered just west of me and it was disconcerting. If you had your feet on the floor of your house you constantly felt rumbling movement.

I remember somebody here telling me to get over it because it wasn't that bad. Well, that went on for quite a while and I had to tape all my cabinets closed and move everything breakable to the floor. The strongest one we had was in the 5s and, being that the center was not far away, it was quite rough. I had just gone to bed when one of the stronger ones hit and I remember jumping out of bed and grabbing ahold of the tv so it wouldn't be knocked to the floor.

I lived in Northern California for 25 years and that's always the first thing that pops into your head when things start moving.

Popped into my head the night of the Loma Prieta quake.

Your map isn't showing the 4.8 near Stockton and all the other ones.
Cheddylady, I always think of that one Everytime we go over the Bay Bridge and get a earthquake

I live in the southbay area of SF. Didn't feel the quake.

ETA: USGS has now removed the quake near Stockton. They said the Stockton "earthquake" was probably the result of incorrect association of some of the waves from the Nevada quake with a secondary source.

The first time I smelled them, I asked my parents how anyone could live with that stench.

A few years later, when I was living in Arcata, I'd roll down the car window on my drive from the Bay Area just to inhale that... smell.

A lot of changes in that area.
