Sadly, the death toll is now at 32 person after four more bodies were pulled from the rubble last night. The remaining half of the building has now been brought down which helped the rescue teams to locate the four victims. It's been a rainy morning here but workers are still at work at the site.

Updated to 36 at 5:45 P.M.

Such a horrific task. Yet they soldier onward. Those teams are incredible. Can't imagine they'll ever be able to find all the bodies. I wonder when they will finally have to conclude the effort.

It's a search and recovery at this point. No more survivors will be found. Tragic.

They'll conclude the search after all of the rubble has been removed and sifted through.

That's what they did at the World Trade Centers.

It is such a terrible tragedy.

I am concerned also for the rescue workers sifting through all that remains of the building. There were terrible ramifications for the rescue workers years after the WTC with all sorts of health issues.

I did see workers wearing "real" respirators this morning. We can only hope it won't be a repeat of the WTC.

I hope they are using some type of hazmat attire to prevent skin from being exposed to any chemicals from the building.

It is just a worry for me after seeing so many brave rescue teams that worked at the site of the WTC suffer through the years with serious health issues.

That's good news! We've probably learned a lot from other fallen structure disasters and I hope the best for all these heros.

I am convinced, sadly, that there will be many more casualties.

I don't find the threads ghoulish but really do wonder what the point of them is.We know what happened, saw the rubble, and know a lot of people (including children) and pets died. IMO it would be newsworthy if any survivors are found, but as to the death toll updates ..I don't see the point. 34, 36 ...we know it's going to be a lot so ...what's the point? How does it affect you if it's 39, 45 or 145?

And yes, I will be skipping over this thread most days because I don't see the point. I do think it is unfortunate that some posters seem to relish posting bad news here on a daily basis. It must be satisfactory to them in some way...but I don't "get" that either.

My comment was my first post on this subject. Some of us are closer than others to the tragedy, literally and figuratively. I live 20 miles from Surfside, but more importantly some members of my workplace are among some of the first responders helping the Miami-Dade Rescue team.👩‍🚒

@songbird Yes, Elsa went through yesterday, the storm held up recovery efforts, lightning and heavy rain.

It's been reported in the news that some families are upset they didn't implode the building sooner since most victims have been found in that area.
