Benefits of Prime

Besides free and quick shipping, what are the benefits of an Amazon Prime membership? Looking at the site shows so much to read that just goes on and on. I'm seriously thinking of joining, but I don't know if the cost outweighs the benefits.

I don't order that much, but do enjoy watching commercial free TV and also read on my Kindle. Is their Prime video and Kindle books free. Their info pages leave much to be desired.

Can anyone stear me in the right direction.

We've had Prime for a very long time now. The reason why we have it is mainly for their free shipping and fast arrival times.

Their Amazon Prime Videos are also free. I put the movies/shows/series I like in my "Watchlist" and I usually play them on my Alexa while I'm cooking or if I'm going to be in the kitchen for a while.

Definitely worth it, in my opinion!

Love Amazon Prime...would not be without....expedited shipping free. Extra perk...we just discovered free Prime TV and are binge watching Vikings from Episode 1!

@coffee drinker No more running to town and looking and looking for what we need because we can most often have it at the door the next day.

It is too difficult to search around for many products--like the right light bulb or any other little thing you need. Plus a zillion things you didn't know about unless you saw it on Prime. Great way to shop! Great way to cut down on hassles.

I dont have Prime. I find much better prices eleswhere than on Amazon for the most part, and if i want free shipping I just am sure to spend $25, works just fine for me.

I guess I am the perfect Prime customer....use it all the time order lots$$$$$....watch free shows on TV....I personally LOVE Amazon. I can buy anything and everything so easy....right at my finger tips. Never disappointed.

Amazon has a pharmacy now and there is a link from their product page to look up any medication for their price and this price does not take into consideration any insurance at that point; however once you enroll in the program and give them your insurance information a new price will show for each med. They take all insurance.

@coffee drinker , Why not try the free 30 day trial for prime ? I myself use Prime video a lot, and I love the fast shipping time. There is almost nothing you can't find on Amazon and the ability to get it quickly has saved me many a time. There are discounts and often free books for my Kindle, and I just wouldn't be without it.

I have Prime and there are a lot of free videos and free e-books. I also find myself checking prices on line a lot more but ordering things from Amazon because of the free shipping. Then there is the fact that you usually get the items the following day in most cases. Their return policy is very generous and free in a lot of cases. There are also a couple of things I use frequently that I'm on auto ship for. What I save on shipping usually more than pays for the monthly fee plus I get the free movies and e-books. Also, sometimes there are offers for free music and on some items there is an offer for an dollor or so off the total price too.

Can't speak to books, but I have/do watch a lot of their free movies. We are the opposite of you, for me over 90% of my purchases are via Amazon Prime. Worth the $$$ to us.

@deeva I will gladly pay a little more to NOT have to go to Walmart or Target. Maybe a lot more sometimes.

I've been a prime member for years but the only benefit I use is the free shipping.

Nothing I want to watch is free on Prime TV.

None of the books I want to read are on in the free book section.

None of the music I want to listen to is on Amazon's free music service.

I go to Whole Foods maybe once a year for one or 2 things in a pinch.

As someone else posted, it is easier for me to find the one thing I need on Amazon than to drive to 2-3 places to try to find it in a store. I don't use Amazon or every day, common items I can get at the grocery store.

As other have mentioned-- in addition to fast delivery there's prime TV entertainment, videos, music, discounts at whole foods, pharmacies etc....But to play devil's advocate I read if your just primarily interested in fast delivery you would have to order at least 32 times to make the Prime Membership fee worthwhile....

Also, be aware Amazon doesn't always have the best prices---An Amazon Exec admitted in an interview they count on customers liking Amazon Primes fast delivery and many think that Amazon always has the lowest price, but what he admitted is they will lower a price on one item to beat the competition, but increase prices on other items to make up the difference....so comparison shopping is the key word....

Today is a perfect example of why I dont have Prime or use amazon all that often. I wanted to try a pain reliever with hemp, found one on amazon that sounds promising, went to the company site and ended up getting it $10 cheaper. I consider myself a smart shopper. So glad I just didnt grab it up on amazon.

I have Prime and love it. One other benifit is the ability to get the Prime credit card and get 5% cash back on everything I buy from Amazon and groceries at Whole Foods. Lesser percentages off on everything else I buy anywhere.

Many QVC vendors sell on Amazon, bought Lori Felt jeans recently, even Barefoot Dreams is on Amazon.

Prime Home Services (in certain areas) help with assembling household items like a home gym, mounting a tv to a wall, minor plumbing issues and more.

Amazon is not the cheapest game in town for sure. They use algorithms just like the next company. I don't think they price match either. If I find some items elsewhere, I will purchase them elsewhere if they have free shipping. If the next place has a lower price but charges me shipping, you guessed it, I'm getting it from Amazon. I go between Amazon and Walmart for certain items. I can get pantry staples from Walmart too. I just have to spend 35.00 to qualify for two day shipping or in some cases next day shipping.

I too have had Prime forever. We just had this conversation this morning; whether to keep it or not.

DH watches a lot on Prime video, I purchase a lot on Amazon prime. I always check other places and compare prices and usually wind up back on amazon to order. They aren't always cheaper but usually are or are close.

As for fast delivery, yes it usually is but with Covid , not always. That's OK with me. At least I didn't have to drive around looking for something. On Saturday, I went to 4 places trying to find a battery. No luck. Today, I'll order it from amazon. Will have to get a pack of 2 but fine.
