Rising Sea Levels-From NOAA 2021

Highlights:

Sea level has risen 8–9 inches (21–24 centimeters) since 1880.
In 2019, global sea level was 3.4 inches (87.6 mm) above the 1993 average—the highest annual average in the satellite record (1993-present). This is an increase of 0.24 inches (6.1 mm) from 2018.
The rate of sea level rise is accelerating: it has more than doubled from 0.06 inches (1.4 millimeters) per year throughout most of the twentieth century to 0.14 inches (3.6 millimeters) per year from 2006–2015.
In many locations along the U.S. coastline, high-tide flooding is now 300% to more than 900% more frequent than it was 50 years ago.
Even if the world follows a low greenhouse gas pathway, global sea level will likely rise at least 12 inches (0.3 meters) above 2000 levels by 2100.
If we follow a pathway with high emissions, a worst-case scenario of as much as 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) above 2000 levels by 2100 cannot be ruled out.

It's very obvious in Venice where they have been dealing with rising waters for a while now. I heard on some science show that the world should take notes from Venice when it comes to dealing with rising sea levels.

Polar ice caps have melted long before humans existed. A big volcanic eruption will at some point make a huge change overnight in climate. Worry about that too.

You can worry about all this stuff, but you can't change it. Not unless we go back to no electricity, no nothing. And then it might not work.

It really isn't something the U.S. has control of no matter what you are told. Worry more about getting in a car wreck.

@Cakers3 Much of Florida used to be under water. My DD lives in western MD, near the mountains. She finds rocks in the foothills with marine fossils embedded in them. The world will change with little reguard to what we do. The best we can do is clean up the air we breathe and the water we drink, and improve the way we grow and raise our food.

@PA Mom-mom Much of Texas was underwater at one time, too. I went on an excursion digging for marine fossils. Quite interesting.

I have a box of them and grandson used them for a project in grade school.

Anyway, I thought the stats were interesting based on the posts regarding climate change and the horrific tragedy in FL right now.

When I was in school we were concerned about THE COMING ICE AGE! It was on the front cover of Time Magazine. That alone making it a fact, does it not? The theory was advanced from scientific findings and it was certain.

While you and I disagree on many points, no need to intentionally mis-state my comments. They ARE as valid as yours.

We may see indeed as to how doing nothing ourselves about this issue works out. I believe our country should indeed lead the way in betterment.
