Depends on where you live and what kind of dog needs to be walked (I think).

It depends on the area you live. My daughters pay $$$ for someone to care for their pets. One is in VA the other in NY

@LOVEMYFURBABY Our local volunteer center has requests for dog walkers which seem to get filled - not sure if that is an option where you live. Also try pet stores/vets to see if they have have dog walker suggestions. Good luck.

Sign up for NextDoor.com, your neighborhood website. Ask for recommendations for local dog walkers, call and ask what they charge. A few walkers might reply to you there.

Make sure the one you choose has good recommendations. Someone might reply that hasn't walked dogs before.

He is a Cavaler King Charles Spaniel who is not used to being walked since I cannot walk him. He would have to start out for short walks at first. He is five years old and a sweet dog. I love him very much.

You might be able to find a neighbor with a teenage boy or girl looking for an easy job. A responsible teen might enjoy making money you both can agree on (have a price in mind you Ed willing to pay before offering the work) and will also feel they are being helpful to you, besides loving your dog. Perhaps contact your nearby high school and see if they have a community service program that sends teens to help older folks. Lots of kids work for school credit. Some schools won't allow seniors to graduate without a service effort. There's your "volunteer"!

Do you have a neighbor who walks their own dog regularly? Offer to pay them modestly if they could take your pooch at the same time. Lots of people feel very good about being helpful to their older neighbors. Don't be afraid to ask just once. You're not begging or nagging. Just asking for a favor you will pay for or trade for.

At the easiest, use Google to search for "dog walking services near me". Allow it to use your location, of course, and it will give you listings that are relevant. Then follow up to get prices for services. If it's close to your budget but a little high, use the "senior citizen" strategy and ask for a price consideration.

I think this is a solvable problem with a bit of research and initiative. Your dog will thank you for it!

Are there any young teens that you know in your neighborhood that might want to earn a bit of money? My granddaughter walked a neighbor’s dog once a day after school and I think she got paid $20 a week. She was thrilled. I think at the time she was in junior high school. As she got older though she ended up having to give it up due to afterschool activities.

When I was having some work done outside my home and my dog could not go in and out because I was at work, I was charged $7.50 for 30 minutes of walking. I live on the West Coast. When I asked how they arrived at that amount, they said they checked the Internet for average costs. You might try checking the Internet for the cost in your area.

We pay a neighborhood kid for dog sitting when we're out of town for $25 per day. The kid walks our dog twice for 15 minutes, and lets him out one additional time, and makes sure he has food and water. The kid also brings in our mail and waters a few plants.

As others said, the pay can vary widely, but based on what we pay our dog sitter, I would guess that a kid would be happy to take a dog for a walk for $5-10?

@LOVEMYFURBABY @I don't live in Kentucky but I checked online for some prices for this service and I found $17-$20 for short walks.

@LOVEMYFURBABY After reading all the responses, prices really do vary. Also, there were some good suggestions, too. My friend who lives in Boca Raton, pays $20 a day which is for 2 walks.

Call a local Church in your area, there are lots of people who offer volunteer services for Seniors.

Please be aware that your breed of dog is a sought after so you need

someone trustworthy.

Wish I could help, I walk mine 2-3 times a day.

suburb of DC......my sister pays $350 a month to a dog walker who walks her dog daily M - F for about 45 minutes to an hour.

I've never used a dog walker but I've always had a decent sized fenced back yard and I've always added a dog run in the side yard. I always have at least two doxies so I just open the back door and let the babies out for 15-30 mins at a time ( they are primarily house dogs as I'm sure your doggie is). Buying a second dog and having a secure backyard might be your answer (I'm 77).

Depends on your area, and how many times a day they need walking.

Not wanting to take money away from a professional dog walker, but I also like the idea of possibly using a responsible teen.

You need to do a little research of the possibilities for your area.
