YET ANOTHER MASS SHOOTING! SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA

It is 0900 as I type this. I JUST turned on the news, and multiple fatalities and people are wounded. The shooter is dead. This happened at rail yard, near downtown San Jose. It happened at 0630 this morning. That's all that I know at this time.

Prayers to the families, friends, co-workers of those who were injured or killed.

Mayor is supposed to give an update at 0930. We should know more then.

Fairfield, N.J. had a mass shooting this past Saturday. An outside birthday party at a private home w/100-200 people (family & friends) in attendance. 3 people died so far. Many injured.

Multiple shooters. The "shooter(s)" have not been found. They fired from the woods surrounding the house. 2 or more people were charged for carrying firearms. One of them was the owner of the house.

I've heard of a few shootings at parties and other gatherings like concerts, ballgames, family reunions and bars--where anger, alcohol and drugs are the catalysts.

Summer time, warm weather, people imbibe and tempers flare. It's summertime.

Then there are always disgruntled employees--which is so scary to me.

Sadly, it is another day in America.

Mental health is always thrown around in these instances. Other countries in the world surely have their share of mental illness and yet these shootings/mass shootings seem to occur primarily in our country.

I wonder why?

UPDATE:

The SJ Deputy Sheriff PIO (Public Information Officer), said that at this time, he will not be releasing the number of injured or fatalities, because it is an ongoing investigation.

This happened at the VTA (Valley Transportation Authority), hub. It's public transportation that has light rail transit.

I hardly find it surprising at all... states are making having a gun easier and easier all the time.....

19 states (Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming) now allow the carrying of concealed weapons without a permit,

@Mz iMac Unfortunately, I think people here have become desensitized to the shootings, mass shootings and violence in our country because they happen so regularly.

At this point, if that was not the case, we would all lose our minds and be afraid to carry on with living our lives.

I can't imagine what other people in the world think of all of the violence.

The shooter, a man, is among the dead.

At least some of those injured are Valley Transportation Authority employees.

The shooting was in the area of 100 W. Younger Avenue at a VTA control center and rail yard, where light rail cars are stored. The building is not open to the public, so the shooter would have needed employee access or to have broken in, said VTA spokesperson Brandi Childress.

In my state (VA) you can conceal carry and go into a bar but you can not drink. If the weapon is concealed, how do we know if you can or can not drink?

@Mersha The world has ALWAYS been violent... it is the nature of Man... that is not going to change... but adding people owning guns and easy access to guns just adds to that violence even more.

Per LA Times, the shooter was in his 50s, set his own home on fire and then went to his work place and a union meeting where there are at least 8 dead, no tally for injured.

Jeeez, this is getting to be an everyday occurrence. Now that the people have been set loose, are they releasing their pent up frustrations of the past year? Not to mention our brave police officers that deal with this behavior on a daily basis, seeing the worst of the worst, working day shifts, working night shifts and in between.

My heart breaks for the two separate incidents involving the little boys, one abducted from his home and the other a victim of road rage. It just saddens me so much, I can only hope that in the end, justice will be served for the innocent victims of others bad intentions and sickening behaviors.

I will tell you what they think of violence in our country, well, in one country anyway. I have a close relative who lives in Japan. He says there is no crime there and he and his wife can go anywhere anytime of day or night w/o fear of violence. Unlike America, criminals aren't coddled and set free. He said punishment for even the lowest crime--like a theft or pickpocket--is many years of very hard labor.
