4rh Amazon call scam

I don't get it..........and have no account with Amazon

Caller ID said incoming call from big well known insurance agency. Their number same as mine except for 2 digits. Figured wrong number.

Man (again) says somebody is charging $900 plus to my account - press # or press #

3 other calls were in the high $600 range.

If I have no account with "A" - how do they get their $$$

I could think up a better scan.....................LOL

@fthunt These robo calls are so annoying. We gave up our "house phone" thinking it would cut down some of them, but now they have our cell numbers!!!

u can have an iPhone mute unknown callers and you wont be bothered,

Quite a few people I deal with come through on an unknown number - doctors offices (no caller ID), service people, etc. I wouldn't want to automatically block them.

I never answer the phone if I don't recognize the number so I rarely get calls of that type. Maybe a couple a month. When they hang up before the 4th ring, you know it's a scammer as they don't want to listen to your answering machine, which I don't have.

LOL....HOPEFULLY this means the scammers are running out of ideas as their scheme becomes sillier and sillier and more unbelievable....😄

lol I found that out the hard way, but toggle on/off as needed

FYI the calls go to voice mail, so you wont miss the legit calls

I get those calls on both the home phone and the cell phone, they even leave messages to call them back which I find pretty amusing! It's easy enough to check your Amazon account in a few seconds to verify what they are saying, so apparently they are counting on people to not be very bright!

We only answer the phone if we know who the caller is. We have caller ID and an answering machine.

I keep getting emails saying someone has accessed by Facebook account. I do not have a Facebook account so I never click on it and just delete it.

Lots of controls on a smartphone for managing calls. Lots of threads too. They only can bother you if they come thru.

:welll, true. But if I'm waiting for a call back or notification that the service guy is coming I don't want them to have to leave a message.

I will say that our number of robocalls has gone down dramatically.

@fthunt It's just online phishing. I get them ALL the time.

So many people have Amazon accounts that they call everyone, hoping to scam someone with their scare tactics, who does have an account.

I never answer, or respond to their recordings. Have to admit, I swear a little every time and don't wish them well.

I wish something WOULD be done about this. I think we all know that something COULD be done. Maybe some day.

The bane of my existence is being forced upon by people/entities trying to sell something OR those who are nefariously trying to gain something through thievery. I used to have a lot more people banging on the door and/or hitting the doorbell relentlessly, despite the signs I have out. I don't know why it's seemed to have stopped but I'm glad. (I hope I didn't just jinx that!)

I know there is a way to keep people from spoofing numbers, so it can be done as far as the ones on the phone.

I don't answer any of them and I also know that that keeps it down. But it's enough to be annoying.

Just be careful out there. NEVER give out information unless you know exactly to whom are speaking and never push any buttons. Better yet - just don't answer them at all and your phone number won't be sold over and over to more of them.

Sometimes we get e-mails advising us that there have been large purchases on our Amazon account. Of course, we would never answer, but you can tell it was written by someone who doesn’t know English well. Always scammers around hoping to prey on someone.

I don't answer either if I don't know the number. However, I do have voice mail and it never ceases to amaze me that some of these scammers actually leave messages. I wonder how many people fall for their scams.

My landline says Robo? or Spam? before the caller ID and they are usually right. I don't answer any calls I don't recognize but I don't block any either.

I'm relieved that other people are getting these robocalls as well; at least I'm not alone! I've gotten at least 7 calls today on my landline with some woman who says Amazon has charged me $729.00 and to press one to talk to a representative. Of course, I let the calls go to voicemail, but it's still annoying to delete these messages over and over. It usually takes a couple of days for the caller to give up and pester someone else but I wish there was a way to send these messages to a government entity who could punish these scammers!

You can go to the FTC website and file an online report that number, but it does little good..... The only thing that worked for me was to get rid of my landline.... The only robo/scam calls I gotten on my cell was for ONE car warranty call and thats been the only one Ive gotten so far this year.....
