Don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone

Yesterday's outage of this forum left many of us without a source of connecting with others. Although I have only been posting a short while I have come to treasure this forum as a source of information, entertainment, and a community of friends that meet daily to discuss any and everything.

Yesterday was lonely and I missed you all.

I'm not much of a loyal club member these days. I go days, sometimes weeks, without stopping in. I didn't even realize anything was down or amiss. I feel so disloyal.

I have been reading for quite some time & finally began posting several months ago. It is very enjoyable to "meet" so many kind people! So many times I read about things that are also close to me & that are on my mind too.

But, seriously, I did miss being able to log in here but I have a couple other boards I also frequent and have also belonged to for many years so I got through it.

Whose got time to sit on boards all day long. Not me. I got ample home to take care of, washing&ironing, cooking, cleaning, exercising, grocery & errand shopping. Church on Sunday, yard to look after since it never rains in Tx. Stuff has to be kept alive. Cars to wash.

Personal maintenance takes a lot of time. Never ends.

I missed it completely, because it apparently took place during my work day.

when I signed in later in the day, I saw lots of conversations about it. I wasn't affected.

@SharkE I was worn out reading your post....I am so lazy compared to you! 😄 I have the time to sit on my duff all day!

I am retired and if I do not get something done today there is always tomorrow ( my motto!)

LOL I think I'm lucky when I'm out driving and see other women who have to buckle up kids and lug sacks around, etc.

I am usually here every day even if it's just for a couple of minutes; I might miss a day now and then. But I have to say that I do really think it's very enjoyable and I would really miss it if we didn't have it!

@SharkE - I've got plenty of time to "sit on the boards all day long" if I want. I have a large home and I live alone and it's always in pristine shape, doesn't take time at all to keep it that way. I have someone who cleans it for me every 2 weeks and I am not messy at all.

Let's see, laundry for one doesn't take long, I do laundry on Wednesday and Sunday. I don't even own an iron. Grocery shopping takes about 40 minutes, including driving. I have someone cut my grass and trim for me.

I don't have many errands. I mean how many errands can there be? I keep my hair cut and colored and take a shower every single day and I've just started physical therapy for several worrying orthopedic issues that have come up out of nowhere.

But I still have tons of time to come here and spend time on Facebook.

If the pandemic gets to the point where I feel more comfortable out with the masses AND I can walk and stand without stiffness and pain, I might look for a part time job.....maybe....but for now, plenty of time to sit on the boards. I have terrific time management skills.

I think if we don't watch it we get too dependable on other stuff to keep us entertained. I watched Young & Restless for yrs, and put up with political break ins, constant shootings, news break ins, weather break ins. Only time anything ever happened was 11:00 LOL

Once corona hit it got even worse. I decided it was time to cut the cord once and for all. Besides when your married everything is a fight. My sister is a widow and she can do what she wants, when she wants and if she wants. When your married there's 2 in the house and if you got grandkids more then likely you will inherit them.

As of right now I got a retired husband who is grumpy all the time doesn't like me having the news on and gives the finger to the Tv all the time LOL No matter who is talking or the latest situation they all get the same treatment.

He gives QVC the finger too . ROFL I wait till he's gone or goes to watch a ballgame and I can check in to see who is fighting now usually the same ones. Think we depend on other sources for our happiness. Nothing lasts forever and things change daily. Here today gone tomorrow.

@SharkE you are so funny! I had no inkling you have to deal with a grumpy old man. My husband tolerates Y&R and actually watches B&B with me. You'll need to think of all the exciting qualities that attracted you to the old guy. Be like Quinn and reignite that fire💖🔥
