So I've had a kind of scaryish weekend with husband admitted to hospital for observation following the 2nd vaccine shot. Long story short he is back home and feeling good. But waiting endlessly I discovered Taylor Swift music. She has released tons of songs . Really such beautiful videos with beautiful lyrics and music. The Lakes, Marjorie, Epihany, No body, no crime, Ronan , Begin Again .So many really, I could go on and on. I thought she was for young girls but I really enjoy her.

Over the weekend I was listening to her new version of her "old" album Fearless.

The two albums she has put out during the pandemic, Folklore and Evermore, are so good. I find that they bring me temporary peace when I listen to them.

Can't listen to that one, way too close to home. On the new version of Fearless she has re-recorded The Best Day, a beautiful song about her Mom. Fearless was originally released in 2008.

I hope your spouse is OK. I know that feeling all to well. Mine spent weekend there although not from vaccine -- although, glad we have caring pulmonary specialist who came upon knowing he was admitted.

As for Taylor my GD loves her😀

I confess to making this discovery myself about eight years ago. Still working at that time, I sheepishly told a colleague about my sudden and unexpected discovery of loving Taylor Swift's music, admitted I was shocked and expected her to be perplexed by this love of Swift.

Not at all! She was about 20 years younger than I and had a young daughter who would have been one of those ardent Swift fans in her elementary school years. Both were huge fans.

It was my impression, too, that Swift's music was for the very young girls. I vividly recall reading articles about 8- and 10-year-old girls who were crushed when they were unable to snag tickets to Swift's concerts at the local big arenas.

"Wildest Dreams" and "Blank Space" were the ones that hooked me like a carp.

I am glad your DH is doing well. It is scary to take a new vaccine, knowing that for a few it has misfired and then to have some sort of reaction. Both of you must have been very concerned and anxious during the waiting period to see if your husband would be okay.

I've loved Taylor Swift's music since the first song she put out ("Tim McGraw") in 2006. I think she was 16 at that time.

DH and I went to a Brad Paisley concert and she was the opening act. She was terrific; so clearly happy to be on stage singing and delighted that the crowd knew the words to her songs. We both thought then she was going places.

I've always marveled at how clever her lyrics are. She's got a wonderful attitude and appreciation of her fans. (And her song "Shake it Off" tells you how she deals with the naysayers!)

@Nancy Drew - You didn't say which vaccine your DH got, but I'm glad to hear he's back home and doing well.

I go for my second Moderna shot on the 20th and I'm hoping everything is okay. I didn't have any issues with the first shot, other than feeling a bit tired the next day.

My take is that Taylor has a song for every mood and feeling for everyone. It's also fun to listen to her as she gets older and has more life experiences.

Secretly, I love how savage her songs are about the men she's been involved with. A few days ago, Mr. Perfectly Fine destroyed Joe Jonas. It was a song that didn't make the Fearless album and caused many to say that when she re-records Red and brings out songs from the vault from that album that Jake Gyllenhaal will be in for it.

I'm here for that.

If you know anything about John Mayer's relationships, especially if you read Jessica Simpson's book which goes into detail about her relationship with him, and read Taylor Swift's lyrics to the song about him, Dear John, can can just feel the pain in those words. We were all 19 once.

Most people seem to like her. I do. I have most of her pop albums. Not a fan of country music. It's when she moved over in to pop that more people discover her. Die hard fans are called "Swifties"

I've been a fan since the beginning as well thanks originally to my daughter. We've been to many of her concerts together and while Loverfest would have been the first one we would attend separately (she's now on the east coast, I'm in CA) it was unfortunately cancelled due to covid.

I remember years ago when the naysayers on this very message board were opining that Taylor would never be a success I was seriously questioning their sanity. Lol, jk...sort of.

Now, these many years later, she's gone on to be one of the most successful and influential artists of her time. It's been so amazing to watch now as she is deservedly recognized and rewarded for all her hard work and talent.

From our "I hope you like Taylor Swift" doormat to the four ft cardboard cut out of Taylor from the Speak Now era in my guestroom, it would come as no surprise that TS fans live here, lol. To say we love her music is an understatement, we listen to it daily.

@Nancy Drew So sorry to hear about your husband's hospital stay and I'm glad to hear he's back home and on the mend. I hope he continues to improve.

Also, while I'm sorry for the circumstances that led you to find Taylor's music it certainly fits the saying that every cloud has a silver lining. Best wishes to you and you husband.

Such a fun song! I'd love to know who was responsible for leaving it off the original release as that makes no sense at all. Actually, all six songs from the vault could have been on Fearless. The good news is we're getting them now as new music on the re-releases.

As you probably already know there's no "Bad Blood" now between Taylor & Joe. She sent them (Sophie & Joe) a gift when their daughter was born and Sophie & Taylor exchanged tweets about "Mr. Perfectly Fine" the day it was released. She even wrote a line about it in her song "Invisible String" from her recent album "Folklore."

In her post about the vault items, she said it had to do with "don't want too many breakup songs, don't want too many down tempo songs, can't fit that many songs on a physical CD." I love that we're getting them now.

She's a true pop princess. And her lyrics are so consistently good. I find her an extremely impressive human being.

Though I'm no Swiftie or Swifty, whatever they call themselves. That would require a level of dedication I have no patience for.

You Need to Calm Down is fabulous. Almost perfect pop bop. I also really enjoy Look What You Made Me Do, and the classic Shake it Off. Some of her rhymes are so clever.

In Nashville there's a country music museum that has an exhibit with lots of her stage outfits.
