Finally!

I got a COVID 19 Vaccine appointment!! Our state is wide open 16 and over. Even better, my appointment is for a Rite Aid pharmacy a block and a half from my house! My appointment is for next Thursday. I feel like floating on clouds.

Oops I just checked. It will be Morderna. I don't mind, so long as I got a vaccine.

Congrats! Yes, it is a good feeling. I just had my first Moderna shot last week and I really felt good about it. Hopefully, there, they do like here and once you've gotten your first one you are guaranteed your second one.

Before I got mine and was trying to get an appt, I was told that they had to hold what they had for second shot folks, leaving a bit of a shortage for new peeps, so I found that comforting that when my time comes they will have the stock for my second shot. This was at the same Walgreen's where I got my first one so it's good to know that on the date they gave me for the next one they will have it available.

Vaccines seem to be very plentiful now, it seems now that whoever wants one will have no issue getting one.

Happy for you!

I got my second shot March 22, and the Safeway grocery store where I got my shots offered a 10% off coupon for groceries bought in their store -- just for using their pharmacy.

I was so euphoric, I spent more than normal as it is a huge store and I rarely go there

It's just good to know you are on your way to being protected.

Good for you @songbird. I spent every morning since February looking for a vaccine and I was registered everywhere. It was exhausting. Finally last month I got a call from my doctor's office and got my first Moderna shot the middle of last month with no side effects whatsoever. I'm getting my second shot tomorrow morning. Of course I will continue as I have for a year being extremely cautious, but I will feel such a relief as I did after my first shot. You're on your way!

Wishing you the best. I had Pfizer both shots. First one zero reaction second was, was a little lethargic the next day with a slight headache. The day after that I was 100%.

You are right it is a GREAT feeling.

Thank you. You are doing it to protect yourself and OTHERS. That's how I looked at it. I wasn't too eager to get the vaccine, but I did it and felt good about it afterwards. I felt like I was doing my civic duty. I did not suffer any serious side-effects, by the way. Sore arm, tiredness after the second (Pfizer) shot.

@maximillian @Miss Pepsi @Biftu @Witchy Woman @Shelbelle Thank you all! It was so frustrating when my state opened up. Could not get anything. I even got up twice at 3:00AM in the morning...and still no luck. Then I tried it today. And boom! right away. Not only did they one day open, but several days and times. I feel so much better! My husband got his the other day.He's going to a mass vaccination place on another day. Mine is just down the street!

@songbird hoping your experience is at least close to mine. I had slight upper arm soreness/stiffness for a day after shot 1. After shot 2, once again a bit of upper arm soreness for a day plus I was wiped out for much of the day following the shot. No chills, no sickness, and was able to take care of myself throughout. Fortunately, I am long retired because I am sure I could not have run a classroom.

@millieshops I'm still working (at home) If my arm is sore or I feel lethargic, I'll take a sick day. But everyone says their arms felt sore or they felft tired. My sister in law was kind of lucky. She ened up getting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. There was only one shot. She got it at a mass vaccination site (at a stadium, she stayed in her car) She said she ddin't get a sore arm, but just got very tired for a day.

Absolutely at least in our area (west coast FL).

I was in our Publix today and they had sign they were taking "walk-ins" and so are Walgreens.

@songbird congrats! keep moving that arm and stay hydrated. even bending your arm at elbow and lifting your handbag while you do the required 15 minute wait will help. i got second moderna last week. reaction quite different but not bad. Thankful to be more protected. Best to you.

Congrats! It is a great feeling. When last year we were told that there would be widespread availability of vaccine by April, I was cautious, but hopeful.

Our state got a very slow start, the distribution being marred by bungling, and worse. I couldn't believe that many in other states were well beyond their shots, and people here-- very needy people-- still scrambling. Finally had my second Moderna late in March. Minor side effects, esp. compared to hubby who got Johnson and Johnson. But we are eternally grateful.

Hoping that everyone who wants and needs vaccine can access it pronto.

@Oznell @mizree I'm not sure what you have to do yet. My appointment is for next Thursday. I'm a little nervous about the side effects.

Our state was very slow when it started. It was frustrating because I was in the last group. But something happened in the beginning of March. The vaccine was dispensing at lightning speed, LOL. They were also expanding the places that offered the vaccine. Pharmacies all over the place had them. I thought for sure it would be impossible for me, because our group is so much bigger. But as soon as I got in, I saw April was open with quite a few dates & times.

I think the mass vaccinations sites use the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as you only get one shot.

This just came in the news....U.S. will temporally halt Johnson & Johnson vaccine because of 6 RARE blood clots. That is the one thing I'm nervous about. During my severe car crash in 2015, I developed a blood clot. They stopped it (it was under my arm pit) and I took medicine when I was in the hospital. Never after that, & I'm fine. But I'm still wary about it. My sister in law got the Johnson & Johnson one.

@songbird ---- Yay! I'm happy for you! And I'm oh, so grateful to anyone who steps up to get one.

When I was at my neighborhood Kroger the other day, they made an announcement over the speaker system. The pharmacist announced that they had 5 vaccinations leftover for the day -- if anyone shopping in the store wanted a vaccination, please come to the pharmacy immediately. For so long it was difficult to get a vaccination appointment, and now they are plentiful. Thank goodness.

Weeks after getting mine, I still get tearful when I think about it.

Just so thankful for the scientific community and those that worked tirelessly to help the rest of us.

We finally have an indoor concert scheduled for June 25. Tables far apart and you must wear masks when not eating/drinking. The artist will be behind plexiglass....However, I am excited for this small return to our lives as we enjoyed them

I know you will feel the same way too!
