Filed my Taxes!!!

I had compiled all my papers / docs / numbers a couple of weeks ago and they were sitting there on the dining table waiting for me to do something with them. It was one of those "maybe next week" situations.

Spent about half an hour on Turbo Tax. Getting small refund ... forms are electronically enroute to feds and state tax.

Good Luck on getting a quick Federal return! Filed two weeks ago and IRS is saying three weeks is the norm. Unfortunately we are expecting a fat return and I need it to pay off my car and replace a dying water heater.

@patbz My accountant filed my taxes a couple of weeks ago. The state tax refund was deposited 4 days later. The federal refund came a few days after that. I was amazed!

Are you the new sheriff in town who decides which posts are "worthy" ?? Now I'm confused.

You might want to clear up your definition of worthiness, just so everyone knows the limits.

@Krimpette : My accountant filed mine and I received state refund in a week but no Federal and its been two weeks (website says it might take three weeks).

I already filed everything away - but I think Turbo Tax said that refund is estimated to be deposited in two weeks.

Got text message that it's been accepted by feds. NY State is slow - usually three or more weeks for refund.

The amount is so small - I probably won't even notice when it's deposited.

I e-filed our tax returns 5 weeks ago and still no Federal refund! I have efiled for the last 12 years, and I know I did it correctly, so I don't know why the long wait, because in previous years, we received the refund (direct deposit) within 8 or 9 days!!

Look here for tax filing details. Be sure to read the details. The extended deadline doesn't apply to all taxes due.

The tax preparation firm that we use every year electronically filed our tax return on March 30, and our bank account shows a substantial refund was already deposited several days ago. Fast work!

State tax refund also posted to our bank account a day or two before federal refund arrived.

Maybe it pays to have taxes done by a professional firm rather than trying it from home??? Not sure.

Maybe the IRS has more faith in returns that are filed by well-known prep firms rather than individual taxpayers, so doesn't take as much time reviewing them. Just guessing here.....

Thanks. It doesn't really affect me as it only applies to federal pmts. I owe State taxes and of course those are still due April 15!

@KKJ : Be sure and double check about your state's deadline; in my state (AZ) the Governor changed deadline to match Feds.

Our Accountant filed our taxes electronically exactly 2 weeks ago and (per IRS.gov) we will receive our refund by April 14th. So things are already a little slower than last year. If you can file before new deadline, do it.
