The pandemic is still ongoing...

I'm going to stick my neck out and say at least another year. I have no desire to get back to 'normal' activities myself for no less than that period of time either. In my eyes, it's not safe yet.

I'm not 'stuck' at home...I'm 'safe' at home.

We are having a large a Covid infection rate here in PA. The numbers are going up every day.

It is still too soon to go back to normal. We still have mandatory rules in place.

I think they are doing a great job the way they are handling the hosts/venders/models now ..... everyone is safe & that’s what is important 🙂

I don't miss the vendors being there in person at all. I think the way they are doing it is just fine.

If I were a vendor I would much rather present from home rather than making the trip to present items for an hour or so and sometimes present only a few items. This works fine and saves traveling time and costs.

I live in PA. We are one of the 5 states this week that possesses almost half of our country's new cases. And our governor is very insistent on wearing masks.

With only 13% fully vaccinated, we have a long way to go!

There is a difference between what is government mandated in each state and what science and medical advisors are saying.

i would hope companies act cautiously to mandate return to totally what was until they can confidently assure those reluctant to return to the “office.”

Qurate is still doing the same thing in its HSN Florida facility, so they are following their own cautious safety protocols regardless of what a state government may say they can do.

I would keep the guests away permanently. The format generally works, in my opinion.

@Johnnyeager I like their current caution, but I would like a return to the in-house vendors where I find the camera work much better.

As a general rule, the bigger cities that crowd people in and where everyone largely relies on mass transit (Philadelphia, NYC, etc.) are where the concentration of cases are. In NJ most of the cases are concentrated in the bigger cities or the areas where people commute to the bigger cities on a regular basis. My county of 62,000+ people in NJ (Salem, County) has a total of 5,390 cases from the start of anyone counting more than a year ago. We're a rural county with limited mass transit and much less crowding. The vast majority of the 171 deaths took place in the two small communities that have the majority of the nursing homes in the region (Carney's Point and Woodstown.)

Population density seems to be the biggest factor in covid. The more people you crowd into a small area, the bigger the problem becomes. The more those people share things (taxis, subways, trains, buses) the bigger the problem becomes. Our local nursing homes got hit hard as they have a fairly dense concentration of people living in a small area and sharing space on a regular basis.

If you remove Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and their immediate suburbs, from the Covid stats, the stats for Pennsylvania would likely be very similar to the stats for every other state. Even the ones that are doing well like Texas and Florida. It's not a statewide problem, it's an urban density problem.

The good news is come May the numbers should drop as the warmer weather takes over again. The next big thing to watch is the September/October/November period to see if the numbers rebound again as they did this year. Those who first got vaccinated in December are already nearing the end of the six-month period in which they probably maintain antibodies. By June many of them could be vulnerable again. It likely won't cause a blip in the stats due to the warmer weather, but come the fall it could cause another surge.

I put my name on a list for a hospital but it said it may be "awhile".

@gardenman I thought that the mention of six months actually pertained only to the fact that it's as long as they've been tracking the shots. I didn't think there was actually a "life span" that short for the vaccines. Did I misunderstand?

No one truly knows how long the effectiveness of the vaccines will last. Six months to a year is a common range you hear. If it is six months, then in June those vaccinated in December will start to be vulnerable again.

Some of the Skype connections are awful---why even bother.... Now there are certain vendors that I enjoy having their presence in the studio ...Valerie Parr Hill, Jim Shore, Meredith Lawrence.....(Of course right now traveling is not a good idea)..and there are some products that I wish that the QVC host would just handle the presentations....but then again, it depends on the host....JMHO

I don't mind the current remote format--or I wouldn't mind it if more of the vendors had decent video and audio. It's just hard to see some products and even hear what they're saying.

I could sympathize with the situation when this thing started, but by now I would have thought that either the vendor or QVC would have the vendor reps set up at home (or wherever they're Skyping from) much more professionally. Many look and sound like they're just using their own little tablets and earphones.

That said, I also agree that I do miss some products and vendors in person. Some products just don't present well remotely.

Not sure about QVC guests. But I heard that on Independence Day I might be able to have a cookout in my back yard with 3 maybe 4 family members, or very close friends.

I think we have a long way to go to be safe to return to normal. People refuse to follow guidelines & refuse to get vaccinated. So cases keep going up in Pa.. If they had listened from the beginning we may not be in this mess now. I do not know why people here have such a problem with wearing masks or getting vaccinated. You do not hear all the whinning & complaining in other Countries.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Have you tried searching on the vaccination map? Not sure where you live but that map shows the locations of vaccination centers throughout the entire state, not just one area.

Probably lots of websites to find the map but the one I used was: w n e p dot com, no spaces. Then click on "How to schedule a Covid 19 vaccine appointment in Pennsylvania".

Then scroll down to "PA Department of Health interactive vaccine provider map" and click on it to see the map. From there you can either start clicking on places that are near your location on the map or there's a search option at top, right. (I've heard of folks traveling long distances to get the vaccine so I guess you could try lots of different places as long as you're willing to drive there.)

Just a suggestion and maybe you've already done all this.
