I went to the dermatologist today for my i t c h ing, burning skin. I was told it's eczema - caused by the very cold long winter and brought on also by stress. Mine is not visible - Dr. said it only "comes out" if you scratch and I do not scratch - just usually rub with lotion or something.

She said most women will get it where I have it - arms and legs and/or back.

She gave me three meds - one is an extremely expensive cream - Vanos. It would have cost me $89 with my health ins. prescription card. However, the prescription comes on a card with a ph. no. where you can call and "register" your name and activate the card. (google Vanos Cream for more info) That will get you the medicine for $20! It sells for $700-$1,000 per tube!! OMG!!! So please, if you go to a dermatologist you will get this card. I don't think a regular Dr. will have it.

She also gave me a Hylatopic - a foam to apply to skin. And, if I start to i t c h at night and cannot sleep she gave me Atarax - she said to only take that at night as it will make me very sleepy!!

So, for those i t c h y friends of mine - ask your Dr. about Vanos, Hylatopic and Atarax. I hope this info is helpful.
