And the Waiting Begins

I just got back from my nasal swab. It was easy, and self-administered. I was given a Q-tip, told to insert it into each nostril 1/2 inch, make two full rotations of each nostril, then hold for 15 seconds. After both nostrils were done, I placed the Q-tip in a vial, sealed it, and then put the vial in a bag. They had a mobile van, and are doing the testing outdoors. I should know the test results in 24 - 48 hours.

Even though I feel fine, no symptoms, and am 99% sure that I don't have it, I can't help but to worry. I am trying to keep a positive attitude, and not think about it too much, but the waiting is the hard part.

@Anonymous032819, keeping good thoughts for negative results. How many days has it been since the potential exposure?

If I estimated correctly it has been at least five to seven days since possible exposure which should give an accurate test result since testing is dependent on viral load.

Thanks for keeping us updated and doing so in a way that minimizes over looking new information.

I believe she was the one who had been exposed to someone with covid and is just being cautious.

Because that's what you do when you've been exposed to Covid. As soon as we discovered my husband had it, my doctor told me to get tested immediately even though I had no symptoms. Turns out I had it too.

Because my boss requires that I take it since I have been notified that I have been exposed to Covid, and I need to show a negative test result before I can go back to work.

That test you did didn't seem as bad as the one my son gets every week. He says they go up behind your eyeballs with a swab on a stick.

I've never been tested for covid.

I hope to heck you don't have it! Good that you don't feel like you have it.

I can imagine how paranoid I would be. I'm achy from the first shot and am trying to keep my mind off the 'what ifs'.

I really don't get why people have to make the comment "why did you open the thread or yet here you are opening the thread." It should be obvious to one that the person who opened it was interested and maybe had something to say. I mean after all, isn't that what we are here for? Doesn't mean you have to like their comment but I should think we all have the option of reading the different topics and commenting.

Antigen tests are performed by nasal swab, so I'm not sure how you've determined she got the wrong kind?

@rms1954, I agree with you about the right to post. All opinions are fair game. But I doubt that you'd enjoy being told that you shouldn't have started a new thread on a topic. That should come only from a moderator.

Where 2 of my grands work, if anyone is exposed everyone that shift has to go home, get tested and stay home 10 days negative or not. Also, my grandson was ordered to take a test last summer because someone on his shift had covid.. he was shocked when it came back posative. He had no symptoms. However, 2 days after negative report he got the fever, chills, and general flu symptoms. It lasted a couple days. He had to wait so many days then get anothertest. When he was negative , he wentback to work.

As can the PCR test. Both PCR and antigen tests can be used to determine if a symptomatic or asymptomatic individual is positive. Nether test is an "asymptomatic test".
