My sister in law embezzled money from her job, a bank. Since then, she has been wanting do to our taxes to earn extra money. I am not sure that it is such a good idea. To avoid telling my husband my true feelings, I told him that our financial history is private. Would you trust her with your financial history?

I can totally see what you're saying (well, except for the religion part) but there is a lot of space between forgiving and giving chances, and giving a person who has stolen huge amounts of money all your financial and personal information.

I've seen way too many people 'see the light' so that they can find more rubes. It happens. I'm not saying that's what she is doing, but it happens a LOT.

Hopefully, she IS on the right track. Maybe she learned her lesson, and that's a good thing.

I agree with all those above plus - I would NEVER want someone in my family with information about how much money we have, how it's invested, etc. It's no one's business. What if she comes to you a year from now and wants a loan? You can't say, "we don't have it" because she knows you do and where it is.

I wouldn't let her within a mile of my piggy bank, much less my taxes, no matter how remorseful she *may* be.
