No mail again today

Haven't had any mail since Tues. I got QVC packages out there somewhere I guess.

Bank computers are down husband can't check our account either.

Called the post office and asked what's the hold up? they said "we get our mail from Ft. Worth (I'm in Amarillo) and that's where the log jam is". I said "do you think we'll get by Mon"? he said "maybe Sat." I thought no way only half day on Sat. anyway so looks like it will be Monday.

At least we got heat, electricity and water, so, guess I have to look at the bright side.

I can't remember the last time we checked the mail. We're just south of Houston. We finally have water and electricity. But many of our neighbors have broken pipes. We had several breaks and hubby fixed them. My main concerns are wether I will get my pickup order for groceries tomorrow my other one was canceled by the store. Also waiting on a chewy delivery for the dogs food. It says it will be here today 🤞

The junk mail that we get actually is the last thing on my list of things to think about. We have gotten mail every day even the blizzard day.

I though how absurd that people are out in this just to deliver mail. Other than that 10 inches of snow and all some mail has come.

But the streets the way they are? Freezing and refreezing, snow drifts, buster water mains making streets of glass? No. I don't even wish that on anybody.

There has been NO UPS ANYTHING any day, but the little postal truck comes at least to our street.

Texas is not use to snow. I don't know if you guys even have plows for the streets. It is very sad for people without water, electricity.

@Katcat1 Some parts get snow almost every year so yes we do have plows. They for the most part only plow highways and main roads. I saw one video of several very large plows running somewhere a few days ago and they were talking about it. I did not know Texas had those large plows. Where I am we only get a tiny bit of snow every 10-15 years. We did get a little snow but the ice was the real issue.

@Lali1 Glad you have your water and electricity back and you were spared broken pipes. I haven't had mail either and couldn't get to my mailbox even if it was delivered. Last thing I am concerned about is my QVC package. I really hope you are able to get your food pick up, my biggest concern is the projected food shortages.

I pray for all my fellow Texans, we have a long way to go in the aftermath and need to help and support each other.

I had steaks that were to be delivered on 2-day status on the 17th. They made it to my city and sat there. I'm sure they will go straight in the trash. Not a big priority for sure. I would rather the drivers stay safe than risk it.

I got a notice from USPS stating I had a package but there would be a delay delivering it due to weather conditions....I was impressed I got a notice....looks like they will try again Saturday when its supposed to warm up....With icy road conditions, the roads keep melting and re-freezing again I dont blame USPS not wanting to risk their lives to deliver what amounts to is mostly just junk mail....I'll happily wait for my mail/packages to be delivered.....

Thank you. Wishing you well also. We did have several pipes break but my husband was prepared with parts and fixed them.Of course we'll have to replace some drywall but not a huge deal. Hubby fixed our neighbors also and had some parts sent from another state to fix any other issues. Those just came so he's going to visit a few elderly neighbors who may need help.

I ordered groceries the minute we got electric but I believe they had water breaks or spoiled food issues. Last night we went to a quickie mart and all grocery stores and most fast food were closed. I'm hoping I at least get some of my order for tomorrow. It did look like there were people working at the store to prepare to reopen when we drove by last night.

I feel horrible for so many who can't get the parts to fix pipe breaks or don't have the ability to do so. People are on waitlists for plumbers. My husband went to Lowe's several days ago to look for parts and the guy that helped him said people are actually coming in buying rugs. He said those people really annoyed him. Of course he said it different.

Yep, grocery stores here in SA are open limited hours, a lot of food had to be thrown away and inventory is limited....

Fast food places were open but some ran out of food and closed, while others had a 2 hour to 2 1/2 wait to get to the drive thru......

Power is back on here, but water is not...

Couldn't you shut your water off at the main valve and make sure you drain your pipes at the outlets (sinks, tubs, showers) so if the temps dip too low at least your pipes won't burst?

I'd gather as much water as possible and then turn it off completely.

You'd be without the water at the faucets, but at least you won't have water damage.

My thoughts are with all of you in Texas. We lived in SA about 20 years ago. I think there was one snow plow for the whole city back then!

We're having our share of snow now too. As someone born and raised in the South, I'm not a fan.

I don't live in Texas, but considering what other people there are going thru I would be happy as a lark to have heat, water and electricity and no mail. Taking into consideration everything people are going thru especially those with medical needs, refrigeration for meds, dialysis, etc, you've got it made. @SharkE

I was really worried about my insulin staying cold enough. I could put it outside but it's not supposed to freeze. I'm only allowed so many bottles for 3 months. I'm waiting on medical supplies. Thank goodness I have enough supplies for my insulin pump and hopefully my unopened insulin is still good. Lots of people dealing with so much.

No we don't and we only have the highway department doing the major highways. I live east of Houston and everything has stop. Hopefully we will be getting supplies in this area soon. I was lucky to have water and electricity but people surrounding me was not so lucky. Keep us in prayer because we have a long way to go because some cities has had damage to their water system. Some cities don't even know how to treat this ;not alone to have equipment to handle this.
