Are You A Keeper Of Secrets?

I have always liked secrets, even unimportant uninteresting ones.

A friend and I may have an experience, the sort most would want to tell everyone. I don't want to tell anyone so it will always belong to just this friend and me.

Some things are not meant to be shared for a variety of reasons.

Some secrets are not good to keep and after someone has died and the secret comes out, the living wish dearly they had known for good reasons.

Usually, family secrets are best not kept if everyone can handle the truth. IMO

I've always kept secrets. Throughout the years I've had friends and co-workers tell me their secrets and I wouldn't have dreamed of ever repeating them to anyone Once I had a very good friend tell me about her extra-marital affair and even though I didn't condone what she was doing I would have never repeated her confidence to anyone.

I've always wanted to be the person that someone could confide in without worrying about me being disloyal to them. I also expect the same loyalty from others if I'm willing to share a something with them.

Those meant to know, would know. The person to whom the secret belongs would have told them. Being related doesn't entitled them to know every family secret.

Generally a secret is a secret until I'm released from it. However, I can readily think of circumstances where it would be wrong to keep the secret but those would be extreme situations.

I believe it is a matter of principle and personal honor, too, to keep a secret. To me, one's character is revealed by what he or she does with a secret.

And boy, do I ever know some! They will not escape my lips.

I am a vault. Once a secret has been told to me, I would never repeat it. I have several very important secrets that have been confided to me and some that I know of by other means. A secret is safe with me.

Sometimes being the keeper of secrets can be a difficult position to be in. I am the middle of 5 children and I am the one who everyone tells their secrets. Could be about money or health issues or pregnancies, relationship issues,you name it I have heard it. I never betray anyone's trust, but sometimes other peoples problems weigh me down. As with most people I have my own issues to deal with. I am not one to share my inner thoughts and problems with other people. Some nights I had so many thoughts circling my brain I couldn't sleep. I have learned to departmentalize my thoughts and prioritize them. I've learned when I'm hearing other people's problems they don't want a solution, they just need someone to listen to them! I am that person.

Just my own. Everyone I ever confided in, including my own family members and husband, has let me down and used what I told them to benefit themselves or used it against me.

As soon as someone says they want to tell me a secret, I immediately tell them that I'm sharing it with my husband.

No one has ever said 'nevermind'.

They know me well enough, they know my husband.

It's been that way since I was a teen.
