You may be able to smell her just from looking at her picture. She stinks!

Most of her life (she's 9 now) she has had terrible skin problems. I've been told that's not uncommon for blue pit bulls. I am almost certain her skin issue is the main reason she smells so bad, and it's getting worse the older she gets.

We have spent a couple of thousand dollars at least over the years trying to get her some relief. She scratches constantly and chews on herself a lot. We've done allergy testing, allergy shots, steroid shots, topical creams, allergy pills (prescribed and otc), crazy expensive special dog foods, special supplements, Benadryl, live Acidophilus yogurt, special medicated shampoos (prescribed and otc), you name it. Nothing really works for any length of time. In fact, some of the things we've tried increased the foul smell even if they did help with the itching. And she just gets more stinky as time goes by.

I used to bathe her every two weeks. Now it's once a week, sometimes twice a week. I can walk past her while she's scratching the day after a bath, and the smell nearly knocks me out. It's like this musty, yeasty odor.

I'm thinking of taking her back to the vet after Christmas to see if there's anything else we can try but thought I'd ask here first in case any of you have experienced this problem.
" />
