Something funny happened to me this weekend when I got an email from Amazon that someone was trying to log into my Amazon account.

Turned out it was my DH who was sitting in front of me on his laptop, ordering something on our Amazon account (it's in my name), LOL!

I did appreciate their diligence, but I know your situation was a different situation, I was just surprised that they notified me of his logging in.

Glad you didn't fall for the scam, it pays to check them out.

@Anonymous032819 Two years ago I had to cancel every bank account, credit card and buy a new computer because I fell for an incredibly realistic Amazon scam. These perpetrators were so clever they had an identical page to Amazon, complete with my name on it when I decided to look up a product. The page said I needed to call their 800 number and within minutes they were in my computer. Long story short, I alerted Amazon to this very sophisticated scam and they told me they knew all about it- but they did NOTHING to warn their customers who were vulnerable to it. My husband got a text message today saying our Amazon account had been hacked. Checked Amazon's website and nothing was wrong. Watch out for these evil crooks!!

Great point about paying up front for Amazon products and never being "billed". I have found that having your credit card set up for alerts at a particular number...$100 or whatever you are comfortable setting...is a great way to stay ahead of all of the hackers and skimmers. I had someone skim my bank credit card in the supermarket and within the time I loaded my car and drove home the skimmer tried to use it to buy very expensive audio equipment on line. My bank was right on it and a message was waiting for me from the fraud department when I arrived home. This was prior to all of the RFD protection now built into handbags and wallets, but I continue to use this protection with my credit cards.

haven’t had phone calls, but I have had both emails and text messages purportedly from Amazon. Hard to get a couple of hundred dollars “reward” when you don’t even have an active account.

But while I’m here, I’ll use this thread to warn of what I think is the work of an Apple scammer. For more than a week,on both my devices I have been asked to sign in with my new password. (There isn’t one) and today the message tightened to a threat I wouldn’t be able to sign on at all. Yet, here I am
