Is it just me, but on the series shows I watch...if they are al about COVID and wearing masks, I cant watch.

I guess it is like the escapeism of the '30's during the depression. We see enough of COVID and bad news, and how our lives are changed...loss of family connectins, jobs etc.

We just want to get away from it all. And seeing actors wearing masks on my serial shows....NOPE

I agree. I think that they are pushing masks thinking if on tv they act like they don't need masks people are too stupid to know the difference. I hate that we are treated like idiots like that. I certainly know the difference between reali life and tv. Most everyone on my tv even if it is news or supposed reality live different lives than most people in the world.

@ProudMa Funny you bring this up. I put on Bull last week and they were all wearing masks. Without thinking I thought I can't watch this and I immediately changed the channel. For some reason it bothered me.

Not on Days of Our Lives, never a mention of Covid, no masks and much hugging, kissing and bed scenes. Just like it is not happening.

It seems to depend on the particular show. I've actually been surprised more of the ones I watch haven't revolved around Covid.

At first some did. Mostly the medical shows. But as the new episodes came out, more stopped highlighting it and went back to about normal.

I can understand drama shows incorporating masks because that is what we are living right now. What I do not understand is shows like The Price Is Right were Drew Carey mentions, practically every show, that they sanitize the wheel between contestants, wear masks when off air, etc. I want to watch a game show without having to hear about covid procedures every single time I watch.

Most shows I watch seem to happen in a post-Covid world, where it’s brought up, but already past. Or, there’s only one or two episodes and then it’s not really a focus anymore. I didn’t find it too bad. But, I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy and, from what I see in articles and as noted above, they seem to have taken it to an extreme.

Not a fan of seeing the masks on television. For one thing, I think it's more difficult to understand people. BUT, if they are actually wearing them for protection and working them into the script, then I'll just deal with my hearing issues.

It drives me nuts when news reporters are standing outside with no one around and wearing a mask. They always talk so fast anyway.

Greys and Station 19 have taken into extreme, maybe why they are on break for 2 months.

There are many Covid references on THE CONNERS. I was thinking how odd those episodes will look in reruns. Kind of like when gas lines are mentioned in 1970's shows.

Don't watch if the realities of a global pandemic don't interest you. I am very happy to hear that some tv shows are weaving Covid 19 and how to protect ourselves, our families and our communites from it into their storylines.

They are putting themselves in harm's way during a pandemic to entertain us. I find it weird and jarring to see people acting unsafely on a show (or an ad for that matter) that I know was made during 2020 or 2021.

I prefer to know that the production is protecting its talent (staff included). So if people aren't wearing masks in say a recently made drama, I want to at least know what precautions are being taken.

I also think that influential people are obligated to model proper behavior when it comes to such an important subject. It's part of the job of an influencer. Influence is the base of the title. If you don't want to influence people positively, you shouldn't be an influencer.

I live Covid 19 everyday, I don't need to see it on TV. In my downtime I want some relaxation and enjoyment. After almost a year, everyone should be well aware of the scenario.

Any informed person should be quite knowledgeable about the realities of a global pandemic by now @chrystaltree.

I'm the opposite: I think it's strange when the actors aren't wearing masks. I think - when was this filmed? are they risking COVID for themselves and their loved ones? are they at least being tested daily?

I'd rather see them mask-wearing and being safe. And it's almost the norm now anyway, so it's not weird and it's hardly noticeable.

I stream series & movies to escape reality. I’m happy to say I have been busy binge-watching shows from previous years and really haven’t been tempted to watch the current season.

I did watch the first episode of one show where masks were worn and the pandemic casually written in. But, like I said, too busy binge-watching other shows to be all that interested. I’m not sure if I’d mind it long term though I do recall it was a bit annoying.

Thank goodness there here are plenty of older shows available for those who prefer a distraction from time to time.

I also agree that the masks are there for the safety of those filming. I’d be alarmed if they weren’t taking safety precautions in the middle of a pandemic. Are there shows filmed with masks where the pandemic is not mentioned? It really isn’t something we need an explanation for.

Unless they are living in a bubble together for filming, I think those filming without masks are practicing risky behaviors. Even if they are tested on a daily basis, it isn’t safe. We have seen enough WH Superspreader events to know that is a fact.

Try streaming; I’ve got endless options and more that I’d really love to watch than I’ll ever have time for.
