Do you talk to yourself?

I just got off the phone with a friend who mentioned that her mother talks to herself alot. Seems like a taboo subject. I was thinking about it and, well, what's wrong with talking to yourself, we talk to so many people. Then again, it would be a much noisier world!

IMO talking to yourself is a sign of high intelligence!! I do it all the time--LOL!!!

I don't have conversations, but I mutter and mumble somewhat. Talk to the dog too.

Indeed I do. Sometimes I find myself in an interesting conversation between me and me. One of us usually solves a problem or answers a question.

A long time ago I read that the one thing you'll believe the most is what you hear yourself say. To that end, I will say aloud such things as, "The door is locked;" "Yes, I turned off the stove;" "The garage door is down;" etc.

Instead of calling it talking to myself, I call it Coaching Myself.

@pprmntstx I'm 72 and have done it all my life. As a child at times it was the only normal "conversation" I could have due to the toxic parents I had.

I am able to work out problems I have or think things through very well when talking about them aloud, to myself.

I also find I think very clearly in the shower! I have no idea why.

I was a rare stay at home mom...when my children were smal Dr. told me that I should "Talk" all day...example.....Well mommy is going to start the wash now, then we will have a snack...etc. Helped with their verbal development...and look at the child as much as possible when speaking....face to face

My children are grown, and are successful...Doctor and School Principal...I thought that was good advice so many yers ago...kept me sane too!!

Today when alone...hubby out or working in the garage...I revert back to my sream of conciousness chatter....
