That depends. Statements like this are often used for guilt shaming.

For some, bad is subjective. What is thought to be bad for some is thought to be good, appropriate and justified behavior by others.

When personal opinions and moral values are similar, everyone agrees. Serious conflict arises when they don't.

Everyone does have at least one redeeming quality, but bad behavior may be so overwhelming it generally cancels redeeming qualities.

Discrediting people like this may be necessary to prevent them from harming others. Discrediting in this case is a good decision.

However, personal vendettas, revenge, jealousy, agendas, and critical of others opinions, says everything about those exhibiting this behavior, nothing about their targets.

Kinda like embarrassment, nobody can embarrass me, but myself.

As for #2! I believe some people are just plain evil. Call it bad or by any other name, I don't buy into that theory.

Now me working for that boss? Might have been interesting.

hckynut

@hckynut

It's ok that we don't agree - because you're always fair and honest.

I prefer to think about these two because it helps me cope. Even a really crappy boss I had made an awesome casserole for us. Another bad one was too passive (which was incredibly frustrating) but he was kind and genuine. I worked in an environment (unlike my husband's) where we were expected to be positive all the time. No blaming, take responsibility for your actions, be passionate, exceed expectations all around, etc. I guess I lived and worked in a bubble. The people I knew that I very much disliked, I still could find one or two things that were good about them.

The discredit thing - I think about ducks that quack quack quack and gather quacking....it reminds me of people that have nothing to say except complain or spread their unpleasantness. Versus - eagles that soar........

I have managed over 150 employees in my career and I honestly can't say that one of them was 'all bad'.

Trust no one (in regard to library card/ lost books)

2. Don't lend out the scissors.

Rules to live by........

@candyagain

Sounds like smart policy to me. Never got stung on scissors or library card, but! I know I still have a couple books and VHS tapes floating around out there somewhere.

I don't blame anyone but myself.
