Toilet Paper Land

Went to Sam's today. The paper goods section is next to breads and the bakery.

I could not believe it. A large portion of the bread section was gone. It was replaced by toilet paper. They had MANY different brands and MANY different configurations of toilet paper. You walked down the isle. It was toilet paper on the left and toilet paper on the right. And stacked up higher than me. Plus they had toilet paper on the end caps. They are prepared.

Watch the next hording craze will not be toilet paper.

We only had a problem getting TP the 1st few months. After that we have always been able to get it. Maybe because one of the brands, Angel Soft, is made locally. Don't be fooled by the name Angel Soft, it is like using sandpaper.

Oh my goodness! I learned this last year when the husband brought home some of that Angel Soft (or, should I say Angel "Soft") and gave me half for my bathroom.

Not only is it not soft but it's soooooooo thin! I was really glad when I got through that and moved back to some decent tp!

@Kachina624 , nah. Bread will be $15/loaf real soon so there will be plenty on store shelves.

People will be baking again by Easter so get your flours and yeast before that disappears.

This is great news. I've been limiting my liquids because we all know what goes in must come out. Now I can drink to my heart's content without fear. Life is good!

IKR? Call me a TP snob, but it's only Charmin for me and always has been!

Tapioca is very difficult to find and when you do people are jacking up the price on Amazon. I heard it was due to a drought but who knows if that is true. I use it in fruit pies . It thickens the pie and adds sweetness so less sugar is needed. I know I can use flour or cornstarch but I don't think the pie tastes as good.

If it is bread I may finally get my breadmaker out of the box where it's sat for 3 years! I made sure I have flour and yeast so I'm ready to go.

Locally, toilet paper and paper towels have rebounded nicely. Flour is still very hit and miss, especially bread flour. Everything else, at least that I buy, is pretty easy to find.

So right...made that decision once...never again. not only not soft...but the tissue was stuck together on every roll...I wasted a third of the roll...trying to get to the tissue not stuck together like it was glued... Never again! I like Charmin Ulta Plush.

No problem here. We did for a while, with off brand in view instead of the one everyone wanted. We were able to get Charmin. Also Scott's. We got it through Amazon. We couldn't get in the supermarkets.

TP is plentiful---Scott, Cottenelle, Northern, Angel Soft, and store brands....but oddly paper towels are out of stock this week.....

I have been able to regularly get Charmin toilet paper and Bounty paper towels through Costco delivery.

Have you ever tried the Kirkland brand paper towels? My husband had brought some home, at some point, and I've been using them. They are really very nice. They also have the 'halves', but it seems like everybody is doing that now. I like that very much.

I forgot what brands I have, but I get them on AD through Amazon for quite a few years now. Somehow it got away from me and I think I have around 3 cases of them on hand.

@chickenbutt : I use a lot of can goods- tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, English peas and can corn to make soup. DH upset last March when shelves were empty. Reorganize my pantry last week and used a sharpie pen to put the expiration date on everything. I over bought but my expiration date = May 2023. I purchased a bread machine and have bread flour and yeast in the freezer. Last week went to Walmart to purchase Bounty paper towels and toilet paper. Paper towels- none but had toilet paper.
