Today is protein nutrition pellet day. I went into the shed to fill up the waste basket with pellets to pour into the 4 trays. As I came out the the shed, this is what greeted me...Tracy and BB.

Betty Lou was here this morning and shared a bag of 🥕 with a young buck...wonder if it is her baby boy?

@Pearlee. She runs very well when being chased but still walking with a very pronounced limp, and frequently stands holding it up from the knee. So I can't really tell if she's better yet.

@MamaWick I didn't know BettyLou had a bad leg. What happened? I thought it was Tracy with the bad leg.

I must not be keeping up as well as I should.

@KatieB Tracy was my first girl with a broken leg many months ago. Her's has since healed but from the knee down she still has slight swelling and knots. Betty Lou is another with a broken leg and swelling is in the upper leg with the lower part with the lower part having no real weight bearing yet.

@KatieB doubt it is from mating because Tracy's break was many months ago. I think they could be clipped by cars or jumping while running and landing wrong. Their normal legs look so tiny (see the deer on the right).

It's health food time at the Wick's! Betty Lou, BB, Tracy and a young Buck are happy to have their pellets and anything else the Widk's diner has on hand!

Hopefully the deer who are injured will heal and thrive. Mama and Papa Wick's is the place to be for a great meal and TLC!!!! Cricket knows and agrees !

@MamaWick As I have posted, their legs are so spindly -- too thin to support their bodies! The ground in the woods is so uneven that I suspect they can easily break a leg just running through the woods. One wrong step and....ouch!

You do such a wonderful job taking care of them and helping them out. I would do the same if I had the deer by me!

Oooooohhhh my goodness gracious, I'd fill up, get all teary eyed.

- I mean how they know you, trust you and love you makes me all kinds of emotional.

I love that you care so dang much about them, I would be the exact same way.

I just feed a few pudgy, fluffy, sweet pea opossums, (because Philly doesn't get dear deers visiting our alleys) - it makes my heart sing that you love them as you do.
