You Know You're a grandparent when..

After reading the grandparents thread,

I was thinking there are many ways you know you are a grandparent (aside from seeing them for the first time!)

Tonight, after seeing 2 of my grandkids, I walked home happily humming the theme from Sesame

Street. And they hadn't even been watching it tonight lol!😄

Any ways you just know, yes you are now a full fledged grandparent?

In fact your first real name is now grandma or grandpa or whatever they call you!

Having observed so many times the happiness and pride the grandparents I know in my family and friends, I understand and agree, on the bay, how and why you feel the way you do around your grandchildren. Their innocence, their silliness, their hugs and love mean so much that at times the negative things of life just fade away when the grandchildren are around. It's a great feeling! Thanks for sharing something uplifting!!!!

My grands are not little anymore, they are between 11 and 18 and have grown up so fast.

When they are around, my name is Grandmacani. ( Grandma Can I? ) they always ask before helping themselves to anything, even though I tell them they are welcome to anything they want ( within reason )

My 10 year old GS talks on & on about MineCraft while he's playing it. I have no idea what is going on, but I do manage to ask him what his next move is, etc...... which he loves. I managed to to find MineCraft slippers. PJs and Legos. He was one happy young man on Christmas & his Jan birthday

I have an almost 3 yr old GS and 6 month old DS still working on pinning them down!! LOL believe me I will do it! DH says I have a black belt in finding the perfect gifts for everyone.

My grandkids range from 10-21. My favorite part is when they smile...really smile when they see me. We love each other 💖!

There is a very special bond between a grandparent and grandchild.

We are so blessed to have them in our life.

@Carmie ... How delightful to hear that two grandchildren between the ags of 11 and 18 ask for something instead of just taking. Evidently the lessons that were instilled were done in such a way that it comes naturally. Their parents did a great job and of course you were a part of it all too. You must be very proud of those two grandchildren and rightfully so.

When you still know the words to the Teletubbies song, Power Rangers etc,etc. Grandkids are 12 to 26, boy do I wish they were still little.

i'm a very proud new Nana of twins - a boy and a girl. They were preemies and spent 2 months in the NICU. They are almost 4 months old .

cannot wait to see them in person (we're on opposite coasts) they are so adorable! i get to see them on FaceTime . Hope things get better soon so i can travel there.

When a toddler comes racing to you crying and arms outstretched to be SAVED from the "wicked parent" running behind them. This parent is intent on naptime, bedtime, or teeth brushing or some other such torture. I do love being the hero to my two.

@Mersha Thank You! i'm thrilled! Dear GD was barely 1 lb when they were born. she is dainty and gained weight so slowly, but she has filled out and she's a little chub-ette now! Dear GS is quite the ham..he's a bruiser! So Thankful they are doing wonderful! My Son and DIL are wonderful parents...

My grandchildren are grown now. When they were young was one of the best times in my life. With the boys it was sports and hiking in the woods. The girls liked arts and crafts. I did too. I loved being a grandmother. Thankfully I was young enough especially with the boys. If I could go back for just one day!

I've been fortunate to retire early at 50 and get to watch my 2 yr old grandson 3 days a week. I got so much joy and laughs from him and now, 12 yrs later we are very close and now I'm watching my youngest 3 yr old grandson.
Movies, crafts, hikes, shopping, video games, board games, etc....

Again, we are very close.

Their other grandparents are not very hands on, kid friendly, I hope I'm making lasting happy memories with them.
I have very happy memories with my very present grandparents.

This Grammy always has macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets and a craft project 😉
