New Years Eve I went to ATM to pull $200 and I got nervous with the vehicle behind me and I drove off without my money.

Well today my $200 were deposited back into my account.

The ATM retrieved the money back.

Thank you for sharing your mistake because this prompted me to inquire at my bank! I get frustrated with the new updated version of our ATM -- I swear its like 10 different prompts and I thought if I accidentally didn't realize "it gave me money" cuz sometimes I hit "cancel"...which is not a good idea per bank.

I was told if the money isn't taken within a certain time the machine retrieves it back into atm. Very interesting.

I didn’t know that ATM’s did that either @homedecor1 and was so happy to hear they do. I thought 40 seconds was a lot but I guess it’s enough time.

i haven’t been to one since but I’m sure from now on I’ll be extra careful.

Our ATM pulls the money back in as well if you don't get it fast enough. The same thing will happen if you drive away and leave your card. After a short amount of time, it pulls the card back in to the machine and a bank employee retrieves it.

I guess the person in the vehicle behind you (the one that you were concerned about) wasn't fast enough!

Better yet, maybe that person knew the "grab back" policy, was honest, and waited until the money was retracted.

YAY! I'm so glad!!

Whew. glad you don't have to worry about that anymore. I'd be extremely upset over the possible loss of $200. Heck, every $20 matters, IMO.
