Who Makes The Best Food Gift Baskets?

I want to send a gift basket to a dear friend. I would like it to contain high quality food items. It could include things such as cheese, meats, candy, fruit, bakery, snack items, etc.

They could be companies that ship locally in the Los Angeles area, or companies that ship nationally.

If you have had good experiences with companies that specialize in this kind of gift basket, I would very much appreciate your recommendations.

You can't go wrong with Harry & David. There's also Hickory Farms; if you can wait until after Christmas, you often find them 50% off.

David's cookies. I think they've been on QVC, but I go to their website. If you have friends that like Brownies, this is the place. Assorted brownies, with fudge, cheesecake, etc. Variations of Brownies.

The other one is: My Grandma's Cape Cod Cranberry Coffee Cake. Love, love this! Been on QVC, but not this flavor. Also on Amazon.

I also use Harry and David. Their pears are outstanding. Not like a pear from the grocery store. My MIL always loved the chocolate truffles. Their pineapple macadamia fruitcake is delicious - not like a bitter peel fruitcake.

We also use Koeze nuts from our local stores. They ship everywhere. Their cashews are really fresh and big.

If Whole Foods delivers in their area, get them some meats, cheeses, breads, a pie maybe, jams and jellies and olives etc. Maybe put in a small flower arrangement and have it delivers.

TALK TO the concierge at the store and they'll take care of you!

If she or he likes peanuts. I just discovered Belmont Peanuts. It's a family farm in Virginia. I placed an order from them a few weeks ago, and I have been enjoying their peanuts in different flavors. They are absolutely the best nuts I have tasted. I highly recommend it.

When I've used them in the past, I was always able to find a deal for free shipping.

I went over to my local flower shop & they hooked my mother up.

Suggest you go to your local flower shop to see what they can do for you.

I looked and couldn't find free shipping on the item I wanted.

I then went to Wolfermans that someone suggested here. I emailed them with a question and they sent me to Harry and David's website for information. I guess they are somehow hooked.

In the end, I ordered exactly what I was looking for from Wine Country. Free shipping too.

I use Swiss Colony for many of my holiday food gifts--the assortments are superb!

Baskets with various items are tough. I recommend: Zingerman's sour cream coffee cake, Savannah's Candy Kitchen original pralines, See's Candies peanut brittle or toffee-ettes or chocolate candy, Savannah Bee Company tupelo honey, or Swiss Colony baby swiss rounds. Yum. We get the Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville VA fruitcakes- top shelf. Merry Christmas!

@CaliKat Harry and David DID NOT IMPRESS me. I would not order from them again. I would go with Whole Foods because they carry beautiful produce and baked goods. Another idea is gourmet cookies from Carol's cookies out of Northbrook, IL. Neiman Marcus carries her cookies and that is how I was introduced to them. They are delicious. They are big and very thick. Only the freshest ingredients are used.
